A Modest Proposal – Giuliano Fujiwara Fall 2009

Based in Milan, but founded on the minimalist principles of Japanese design and enhanced by the tradition of Italian manufacturing, Giuliano Fujiwara is the perfect combination of both worlds.

Providing men with a new sense of grace, the Fujiwara design aesthetic is a balance of creative vision and sensibility. Experimenting with proportions and cut in a consistent gradual manner, Giuliano Fujiwara has been able to set itself apart from its peers and the seasonal trends that follow.

This season, Giuliano Fujiwara’s Creative Director, Masaka Matsumura focused on the cut of the blazer. Looks included the traditional blazer cut slim with small lapels, the blazer deconstructed, cropped, and layered, double lapels, shawls, and the collarless blazer.

Remaining neutral, Matsumura played it safe with colors like black and gray, but more than made up for it with his use of different materials and finishes. Finishing off the collection was the addition of bangles. The bangles were a brilliant accent, best representing the Giuliano Fujiwara aesthetic – daring, yet simple.
