Shown during Amsterdam International Fashion Week, Hyun Yeu’s most recent collection entitled The King is Helpless was inspired by the romantic story of King Edward VIII, who gave up his English throne out of love for an American divorcee. Translating this immense sacrifice into a collection, Yeu transformed Ado Les Scents’ man into a complicated character of strength and vulnerability. From subtle ballooning silhouettes and sheer fabrics to character-driven tailcoats, spring’s outing fuses a modern sensibility with whimsy and romance.
