GAR-DE is a collaborate effort between designers to select a category each season and approach it with innovative ideas. Eventually, each season linked will hopefully build a complete collection.
The GAR-DE Fall/Winter 2008 collection centers around one of the oldest materials used in clothing: leather. With this debut collection, GAR-DE, which means ‘protection’ in French, wanted to fully embody the literal meaning of its name. Leather is constructed into shapes that visually allude to arms overlapping or crossing, evoking the idea of protection. Varying surface textures and colors of leather, dramatic collars and hoods, and slim fits with a bit of geometry, create a fresh approach to traditional leather construction and design.

Whew. Saturday marked the last day of summer school I will ever attend. One more quarter and I’m done with college. I’ve started cleaning out my bookmarks, and I have SO MANY. One of the websites I bookmarked was Baggu. They are sturdy reusable bags to replace grocery plastic and paper bags. They are perfect for the supermaket or holding your randoms. I’ll be ordering a couple, but I still need to select a color.
PLASTIC BAGS & THE PLANET The average family brings home 1,000 bags every year. Most of those bags end up in land fills. That really adds up - 100 billion plastic bags are sent to landfill in the US each year.
In landfills, it can take up to 1000 years for a bag to decompose. Plastics don’t biodegrade, they photo-degrade, breaking down into tiny toxic pieces that contaminate soil and water or harm wildlife.
Every time you use your Baggu bag instead of plastic or paper you are doing something Good.
I like the rugged feel of the Rogues Gallery fall 2008 collection. The collection is comprised of simple “go to” pieces for those cold days. I like the large buttons on the jacket in the top right picture and how it is belted. If you like scarves, I definitely suggest adding a Rogues Gallery one to your collection. They are extremely large making endless tying possibilities. Rogues Gallery also makes quality flannel shirts. No winter wardrobe is complete without one!
