On March 3rd, Oki-ni will be down for a short while and then relaunch with a new website design.  The relaunch will not only include a cleaner look, but see the addition of more labels, a fashion archive photo gallery, denim care guides, exclusive music pages, artist representation and a blog.

Daniel Palillo’s fall collection titled, “I Want to Believe” offers a little optimism for the upcoming season. Palillo designs clothes according to his personal tastes and has a tendency to gravitate towards black and white. Because of this, it is surprising to see the use of lively colors as bright as yellow and teal. However, it is pleasant to see this natural growth within the color palette. It rejuvenates Palillo’s signature oversize look with vigor and freshness.  This energy coincides perfectly with Palillo’s futuristic silhouettes that are inspired by strange inhabitants from a far away planet.  In this vein, Palillo’s distinctive collection acts as vehicle to discover a new stylish world of our own.

New label ClothLogic is based in Los Angeles. ClothLogic’s designer, Leon Shpayer is forthright and does not deter from acknowledging that his label plays it safe when it comes to design. However, Shpayer’s main goal when it comes to fashion is providing an accessible quality brand at an affordable price. Obviously Shpayer is doing something right. One of his celeb followers includes Gossip Girls’ Ed Westwick and we know his choices are never-ending.

Q & A

The Fashionisto: How did your interest in fashion develop?

Leon Shpayer: I come from a long line of clothing makers, going back to 18th century.  I grew up around sewing machines, pins, needles, fabrics, threads, scissors and all that jazz.  Hanging around the Ateleier on my school vacation was a common thing in my life.  It wasn’t till I was 17 and assisting Lika Volkova “Antilika” that I realised how much I connect to the world of clothing making.   I was absolutely consumed and it was wonderful.
