Acne Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, acne, lookbooks/presentations, spring, spring 2010

Always on the cusp of tomorrow’s trends, Acne delivers an easygoing, but highly spirited collection for next spring. Slouchy fitting trousers layered with a free flowing tee and waistcoat, accessorized with a spring appropriate scarf envelop Acne’s sense of spring. Peppy and optimistic, the majority of the collection consists of neutral colors accented by warm yellow and a cool blue. However, always aiming to provide great variety, the collection also incorporates unlikely colors ranging from a bright coral to a deep burgundy. Carefree and smooth, the collection even gives the two-button suit a modern casual look. In an unexpected turn, the range packs a punch, bringing forth light-weight leather in the form of trousers and a cropped jacket. Not surprising, Acne also presents an attractive offering of footwear encompassing every typical style form from their take on the average sneaker to their chic fashion-forward leather sandals that are guaranteed to earn praise come next spring.

Petar Petrov Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, paris fashion week, petar petrov, spring, spring 2010

The diversity and in rare cases eccentricity found in beauty and the transformation of those ideals inspired Petar Petrov’s latest collection. Embodied in the strong personality of his casting, the spring collection represents a natural fluidity. The range does not rely on gimmicks, but builds on an easygoing sense of character. Light and airy, sheer neutral based tanks represent an innocence and feeling of bareness that stands in great contrast to the collection’s darker, more intense pieces. Safety and grim solace are found in Petrov’s monochromatic black garments, while a bold and fiery passion is brought to the surface with the collection’s red trousers and infrequent splatters of blood. Despite Petrov’s use of black and red, attention is often drawn back to the collection’s most honest pieces–the heavenly mix of white, light gray, aqua and green. It is in those pieces that Petrov’s desire to capture beauty at ease is best achieved. At large, Petar Petrov’s efforts result in an intelligent collection that provides the natural silhouette, while the admirer is suited with the task of interjecting into it their own identity.

The Viridi-anne Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, lookbooks/presentations, spring, spring 2010, the viridi-anne

Taking inspiration from mountaineers and early explorers, The Viridi-anne’s latest collection, “Ecdysis”, which literally means the shedding of an outer layer of skin, is about transformation. “Ecdysis” represents designer Tomoaki Okaniwa’s desire to push his own boundaries and evolve. Returning to concepts of streetwear and sportswear, the collection is about great tailoring and style, but above all practicality.

Photographed by Lachlan Bailey, Albert Krarup and Kori Richardson star in Burberry’s pre-fall 2009 campaigns for golf and point of sale. Using the same setting from the spring 2009 campaign, it looks like Burberry is doing their part to cut back on resources used. (Elmer Olsen Models)
