Boss Orange Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Thursday, July 9th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, berlin fashion week, hugo boss orange, spring, spring 2010

The latest Boss Orange collection was designed with an urban setting in mind. Inspired by vintage denim and workwear from the 1950s, the contemporary collection tackles the feat of making the denim ensemble relevant. Often a fashion miss, the collection delivers a pill that is hard to swallow, but is smart enough to break down denim ensembles into separates to show range. Paired with jerseys and leather, the light washed denim takes a backseat and looks its best. However, at times, the collection does appear to be approaching late nineties territory and that is a revival best left untouched.

Kilian Kerner Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, berlin fashion week, kilian kerner, spring, spring 2010

Titled “Tagebucheinträge” or Diary Entries in English, Kilian Kerner’s spring 2010 collection is inspired by five anonymous diary entries. The result is a thoughtful collection that has both strong and sensitive attributes. The collection gains its strength by use of Kerner’s close attention to detail. Overall, the garments are kept modest and minimal. However, the minute areas often overlooked are thought of as important and highlighted. Honing in on the ideal silhouette, Kerner succeeds with the use of small, but sharp lapels, zippers and darts.  The elements work in harmony to marry the ideas of modernity and practicality.  Finally, bringing a gentle calm and elegance to the collection is its iridescent qualities.  The sheen acts as a catalyst for emotion.  While the silhouette presents a strong representation of Kerner’s man, the sheen brings his heart to the surface for a softened, more relaxed outing.

Michalsky Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, berlin fashion week, michalsky, spring, spring 2010

Always vivacious, Michalsky exceeds their mantra to create “real clothes for real people.” Escaping the realm of trends and norms, Michalsky presents a collection of relaxed proportions. In an otherwise real collection, denim jeans are baggy and low slung, while flowers decorate cardigans, pants and jackets. With the range’s tongue-in-cheek nod to streetwear and inclusion of the chic fashion-forward man, Sky challenges the masses to take risks regardless of their preferred style. In some shape or form, the next level is accessible by all.

Patrick Mohr Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Monday, July 6th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, berlin fashion week, florian pessenteiner, patrick mohr, spring, spring 2010

Describing Patrick Mohr’s latest collection to hit Berlin’s runway as unconventional would be an understatement. For the spring 2010 season, Mohr’s ghoulish presentation begs to ask the question, “Is the rhomboid ragpicker homeless?” Comparing an individual’s developing identity to the items a ragpicker collects on a daily basis, Mohr was drawn to an idea of progression. In this vein, street rags are transformed into garments of importance and what would otherwise be considered avant-garde fashion inspires a form of accessible streetwear. At large, Mohr creates a world that has clear intentions, yet appears foreign under the constraints of what norm dictates. Mohr’s spring collection requires the abandonment of sensibility in favor of exploring a fashion that is more accepting to difference and change.

Ramírez Spring 2010

Written by Carl on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, berlin fashion week, ramírez, spring, spring 2010

BLACK COFFEE RAMIREZ Berlin SS10 07-01-09

Argentina’s Pablo Ramírez sure knows his way around a suit. In four sharp precise looks presented during Berlin Fashion Week, Ramírez delivered every suiting piece the modern man needs. Lapels thin and trousers slightly cropped, Ramírez kept the silhouette slim and provided the semi-casual option of suiting shorts. Accessorized by skullcaps as the finishing touch, all in all, the runway ensembles were kept masculine, clean and above all current.
