KTZ Spring 2009

Macedonian fashion pioneer and close friend to Marjan Pejoski, Sasko Besovski (Sasha B) is the man responsible for bringing the uber-hip retail concept Kokon to Zai (KTZ) to the streets of London and Paris as well as 30 other stockists worldwide. The former construction engineer student who ran away to the West to become a DJ and a fashion designer during the heady rush of the early nineties has worked in collaboration with fellow designer the Dark Horse and unveiled another witty collection.

Sasha believes that the proliferation of high-end labels has discouraged younger people from experimenting with interesting clothes and is determined to make some serious changes, especially in a city like London. [Diptrics]

KTZ’s fall collection had me at the Richard Torry sweater; an arrival that I eagerly await, yet this collection is already earmarked for must-haves. Words cannot express (sound familiar?) how much I love the loose dropped crotch pants with the streaks and the oversized sweater (second picture). Overall, the collection is playful and its colors adventurous.  The individual pieces beg you to reexamine your wardrobe and use your imagination to explore new looks.  Are you up for the challenge?

Fall 2008 Trends: Inside These Pants

Top Row (left to right): Endovanera, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Perry Ellis Signature

Bottom Row (left to right): Unconditional, KTZ, Robert Geller, Richard Lindqvist

The Trend: Inside These Pants

What: Switch out the jeans and traditional trousers.  This season is all about mixing it up.  With a new collision of materials, silhouettes, and a splash of color, nothing is off limits.  Be on the look out for tapered sweats, excessive pleating, and relaxed loose fits.

With: Focus on your overall silhouette.  If going with a super relaxed bottom, bring the top half in and make it slim.  If you’re working with tapered bottoms, the options are endless depending on your individual style.  Keep it slim, but not as narrow as your bottom or wear exaggerated portions; skinny bottom, oversized top.

Words cannot express how much I love this collection.  Usually, I do not gravitate towards prints and graphics, but this collection makes me happy.  I know that sounds weird, but I normally equate certain articles of clothing with emotions.  As corny as it may sound, this is the type of collection where you could take a piece out of your closet and instantly set your day right.  It says multitudes of happiness and quirk.  I have my eyes set on the sweater and the pants.  I’m crossing my fingers that the pants come in a different colorway.  That purple might be a little too happy for me.
