Butterflysoulfire Fall 2010 | I Tried to Get Red…

Written by Carl on Thursday, February 25th, 2010 | 2010, butterflysoulfire, fall, fall 2010, lookbooks/presentations

Butterflysoulfire designers Maria Thomas and Thoas Lindner may have comically achieved a new way to blend the old and new, but fall’s collection takes a more stern approach than usual. Dressed predominantly in the customary black, the range takes shape around a modest uniform that is expanded with effortless draping. From simply sleek tops and billowing pant shapes to a nomadic push of oversize garments, Butterflysoulfire grows as that label that pushes the envelope, while remaining accessible to the landscape.

Spring 2010 | Butterflysoulfire

Berlin-based Butterflysoulfire has always been a label to rebel against traditional silhouettes in a way that gives ready-to-wear an avant-garde flair. For their spring 2010 collection entitled “Underneath From Above”, Butterflysoulfire fuses architectural aspirations with handcrafted ornamentation for a range that has a definite direction, all-while progressing organically. Dressed in hues of black and gray, the collection appears dark, when it is actually quite whimsical. Leather, wool and silk might work together to create an edge, but scarves shaped after fairy wings and delicately hand-knitted tanks have another story to tell. The collection and its finely executed silhouettes contrast an alluring softness with a more masculine fit that is over the top, yet refined to a point that it is still accessible. Ultimately, designers Maria Thomas and Thoas Lindner have crafted a collection that blends just the right amount of quirk with beautiful functionality.

“Telescope and Envelope” – BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE Fall 2009

Written by Carl on Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 | 2009, butterflysoulfire, fall, fall 2009, lookbooks/presentations

BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE’S designers Maria Thomas and Thoas Lindner have once again created a quirky yet enchanting collection. The initial inspiration for the fall collection came from the whimsical world of fairy-tales. Inspired by larger than life elements, like the playing cards from Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland”, Thomas and Lindner arrived at the idea of art as a form of dressing. The dark color palette contributes to an understated appearance, but the “contrasts of sizes and fabrics” produces a collection of humor and surrealism. Ideally, the “Telescope and Envelope” collection provides individuals with a creative palette to express themselves.

BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE Spring 2009

Written by Carl on Monday, January 5th, 2009 | 2009, Spring 2009, butterflysoulfire, lookbooks/presentations, spring

Maria Thomas and Thoas Lindner, the designers of BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE have done it again.  Once more, merging art and fashion, the German design duo have developed a beautiful collection.  Their spring collection is perfectly titled “Still Life”. The collection of gently draped light airy tops and outerwear do an excellent job of combining “natural elegance, modernity, and coolness.”
