Tim Hamilton Spring 2009

Currently, Tim Hamilton’s spring collection is the most exciting thing to come out of New York Fashion Week. The collection is effortless, yet has spunk.  It definitely has its own personality.  I like Robert Geller, but was weary of the prison yard look and how it took over his collection.  His collection also seemed quite cookie cutter and reminded me a lot of Ann Demeulemeester; as in items I have already seen.  Tim Hamilton, on the other hand, took the stripes and gave them flair.  The wide stripes were used on shorts, which creates a powerful image, yet at the same time because of their physical size, it is not too much for the eye to handle.  I also love the draping and the ties/waist cinches used on the shirts, sweaters, and pants.  The first look pictured is absolutely ridiculous.  The boots are stellar!  I love the color and I like when boots are worn with shorts and somehow it works.  I also like what he did with the shirt.  You can tell the shirt is inspired by the stripe theme, yet taken in a fresh direction.  KUDOS TIM HAMILTON!  I think a salute is in order.

Scarf + Hoodie = Scoodie? New Arrivals @ Aloha Rag

Posted by admin | 2008, New Arrivals, ann demeulemeester, fall, tim hamilton | Wednesday 27 August 2008 12:28 am

Who needs another scarf when a new hybrid is available?  These two pieces would look great paired with a coat, jacket, or cardigan.  Extra points for how you play off their color.  To contrast or compliment?  That is the question.

Items available for purchase at Aloha Rag.  Click pictures for direct links.

Fall 2008 Trends: Pop is not a Trend

Top Row (left to right): Marc Jacobs, Raf Simons, Tim Hamilton, Phillip Lim, Rag & Bone
Bottom Row (left to right): Louis Vuitton, Annhagen, Robert Geller, Yves Saint Laurent

The Trend: Pop is not a Trend

What: This season, ditch the neon colors and grab the underrated: mustard yellows, purples, greens and blues.  These colors are available in everything from outerwear to pants.

With: Wear one key “pop” color; two if you’re bold.  Highlight them by wearing various shades of black and gray.  Also try layering different materials for depth and interest.

Here are some preview images from Tim Hamilton. I like Tim Hamilton and his reinterpretation of prep, but am I the only one who thinks his prices are outrageous? His prices are comparable to Dior Homme.
