Nikolaj d’Etoiles Fall 2009

Written by Carl on Monday, May 11th, 2009 | 2009, fall, fall 2009, lookbooks/presentations, nikolaj d'etoiles

Never to disappoint, the upcoming fall collection from Nikolaj d’Etoiles offers style and elegance in a great variety of looks. The clothes are as stylish as they are wearable. Quilting makes an appearance in a way that Hugh would approve, while simple takes on classics like the band jacket make a sound impression. Alongside well-tailored trousers are clean-cut blazers and chic relaxed parkas. With so many great pieces, the collection is a feast for the eyes and deserves praise for everything from the overall look to the great styling of overlooked accessories like wool socks.

Nikolaj d’Etoiles Spring 2009

Written by Carl on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 | 2009, Spring 2009, lookbooks/presentations, nikolaj d'etoiles, spring

Nikolaj d’Etoiles is another label from Stockholm that provides another incentive to move to Sweden. The Swedish label has perfected chic to the finest degree. With amazing lines and a clean color palette, Nikolaj d’Etoiles sets the tone for spring.

“Nikolaj d’Etoiles embodies a vision of perfection, of eternal values, of immeasurable pleasure. Old cultures mix and new ones arise, in locations that reflect a state of mind, famed for their mythology, brazenness and elegance. The label’s collections are inspired by the convergence of relaxation, power and sex.”

Style Watch: The Ascot & Belt

Written by Carl on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 | 2009, Runway, Spring 2009, nikolaj d'etoiles, spring, style watch, tiger of sweden

Stockholm Fashion Week wraps up today. The spring 2009 collections by Tiger of Sweden and Nikolaj d’ Etoiles caught my eye.  The styling is interesting. The top picture is from the Tiger of Sweden show, where nearly every model sported an ascot. The clothes are a little on the boring side, but the inclusion of the ascot is engaging. The ascot creates another layer and adds an appealing visual depth.  I have not ventured into this territory, but I may just have to get out some scarves and experiment.

The bottom picture is from the Nikolaj d’ Etoiles collection. The styling of the belts is of interest.  The belt is yet another accessory to experiment with. I’ve already talked in great detail about the trend of belting waists, but I did not stop to think of the endless possibilities when considering using different materials for belts. Rope, ribbon, knit, etc. A new focus on belts presents the opportunity create or reinvent new fashion pairings.
