New York Fashion Week | Odyn Vovk Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Monday, February 15th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, berthold rothas, cole mohr, ethan james, fall, fall 2010, florian pessenteiner, jonatan frenk, lyle lodwick, new york fashion week, odyn vovk, salieu jalloh, shaun haugh, thiago santos, will lewis

Chipping away at the superficial embellishments of life, fall’s collection from Odyn Vovk looks to body, mind and essence to fulfill this season’s vision. Bringing together the remains of a not to distant past, designer Austin Sherbanenko sent his men down the runway in somber layers of wool, linen and leather. A rapid succession of deconstructed separates proved to have the precision to unearth a gritty sense of refinement. Traveling the well-versed path between simple hooded sweatshirts and ready-to-layer shorts to more complicated pieces like the collection’s outerwear, Sherbanenko looked to texture and fabric for a dynamic quality. From capes and cropped denim to exposed shirt tails, the Odyn Vovk man evolves into a more complex character with a style that has gradually been worn away for a more organic finish.

Odyn Vovk Fall 2010 Preview | Tony Ward

Written by Carl on Monday, February 1st, 2010 | 2010, fall, fall 2010, lookbooks/presentations, odyn vovk, tony ward

Odyn Vovk’s fall runway show is set for February 12, 2010 and will showcase designer Austin Sherbanenko’s latest collection entitled “The Three Fold Path”. The culmination of instinct, body and mind, the new collection is best illustrated by preview lookbook images of Tony Ward photographed by Kurt Mangum. A tragic figure of a boom town turned ghost town, Tony wears a wardrobe that at one point had great structure and order. However, over time with age, the garments became fragments of what they once were–gradually deconstructed, broken-in, worn down. In essence, the most recent range represents a more casual Odyn Vovk that draws from organic inspirations in term of silhouette, drape and function.

Spring 2010 | Odyn Vovk

Written by Carl on Wednesday, September 16th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, dan felton, frey mudd, grayson vaughn, new york fashion week, odyn vovk, salieu jalloh, spring, spring 2010, thiago santos, ty akintayo

The spring 2010 season not only marks the third collection of Austin Sherbanenko, but also his second runway show in New York. The latest collection stems from mixed influences taking from past events–distant, near and natural. Inspired by industrial landscapes and Black Metal, Sherbanenko finds an environment that nurtures his vision. Entitled “Confined Translation”, the spring collection finds a more grounded range that channels a dark urban character. Slim silhouettes offer accessible pants that are non-threatening, while outerwear reaches far and wide. At times, a shirt jacket appears safe and easily integrable, while at other times, Sherbanenko brings the drama with extended lengths and deconstructed capes. Taking season appropriate details into account, Sherbanenko delivers thin shirts and tanks, complimented by an array of jackets that are loosely fastened, if at all. Altogether, Odyn Vovk continues to grow in point of view–traveling a path that is progressively more lax as it matures.
