Spring 2010 | OntFront

Written by Carl on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, lookbooks/presentations, ontfront, spring, spring 2010

It’s a knight’s tale for Ulla Models’ Erasmus and Keshia. Photographed by Marnix Postma on location at a Dutch castle, the duo represent the story of OntFront’s spring 2010 collection, “Tonight is the Knight”. The conceptual collection is inspired by the medieval knight as muse, reinterpreting his armor to suit modern menswear in a way that is spontaneous and interesting.

Florian Pessenteiner for OntFront

Written by Carl on Monday, August 24th, 2009 | 2009, fall, florian pessenteiner, ontfront

Photographed by young talent Giel Domen on location in Amsterdam, Florian Pessenteiner took the opportunity to show off some key pieces from OntFront’s fall 2009 collection. With OntFront’s theme for fall in mind, perhaps, the royal influence of Russian Tsar Nicholas II does prevail.

OntFront Spring 2010 – “Tonight Is The Knight”

Written by Carl on Thursday, July 30th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, ontfront, spring, spring 2010

From the medieval period to the common chess board, the knight comes alive as the inspiration for OntFront’s spring 2010 collection. Designer Liza Koifman and Creative Director Tomas Overtoom reinterpreted the knight as the modern man of style. In an innovative fashion, the blazer’s form becomes the armor as dress shirts reign with crafty lapels. The sleek use of complementary colors give the collection dimension, while also working well into the collection’s concept of a coat of armor. At times, the usage of the knight’s chess piece can be a little much, but overall the collection still charms with spontaneity and youthful creativity.

Ontfront Fall 2009

Written by Carl on Friday, July 10th, 2009 | 2009, fall, fall 2009, lookbooks/presentations, ontfront

Previously covered on the runway, here are the lookbook images from Ontfront’s fall 2009 collection entitled “The Royal Influence of Russian Tsar Nicholas II Prevails.” Maintaining strict control over tailoring and the silhouette, the collection fosters a militaristic uniform of luxe. Stern charcoal and deep purple best dress the collection of  soft, but utmost confidence. You might not be royal yourself, but with Ontfront in toll, there is no harm in dressing the part.

The Royal Influence of Russian Tsar Nicholas II Prevails – OntFront Fall 2009

Written by Carl on Monday, February 2nd, 2009 | 2009, Runway, fall, fall 2009, ontfront

OntFront always has a nice cohesive theme for each collection, which makes for a style-inspiring label.  This upcoming fall season, OntFront takes on the Russian royalty of the nineteenth century:

“The influences go back to the roots of Russian designer LIZA KOIFMAN, where the last emperor Tsar Nicholas II of Russia ruled as Autocrat in 19th century. A tsar well-known for wearing the finest uniforms in history. Therefore rich suit fabrics of grey, anthracite, black and off-white are majestically combined with royal red, deep purple and fur. The collection consists of long coats, blazers, trousers, dress shirts, v-necks, baseball jackets and hooded blazers. All featured with quirky details like golden plated 3.5 mini-jack plugs on drawstrings, embroidered family weapons and shiny satin linings.”

OntFront Spring 2009

Written by Carl on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 | 2009, Spring 2009, ontfront, spring

“For spring/summer 2009 OntFront created it’s second collection called ‘Midnight Sessions’, Inspired by the creative atmosphere of the underground jazz scene in the 1920’s. Classic items like a trench coat, blazer and dress shirt are combined with modern pieces like the baseball jacket and hooded sweater. Silky smooth cottons, classic pique and shiny satins contribute to the high end look and feel of the collection. While unexpected details like the mini-jack plugs and tricot cuffs keep it edgy and young.”
