Saint Augustine Academy Spring 2009/10

Written by Carl on Monday, May 4th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, Runway, lookbooks/presentations, saint augustine academy, spring, spring 2010

Spring 2010 gets an early start in the southern hemisphere where Australian label, Saint Augustine Academy recently presented their latest menswear collection alongside the debut of their women’s line. The spring collection offers a fresh youthful take on traditional menswear. Suiting pieces sport a slim silhouette and are infused with special details that make for a contemporary look. A new take on the tuxedo jacket is held in place with a chain, while Saint Augustine Academy’s signature shirt tails make an appearance alongside oversize bows, cravats, cropped trousers, and bib shirts. Representative of the spring collection is the inclusion of light-weight trench coats. The coats add a refined sense of elegance that finds the convergence of old-time standards with modern silhouettes.

The weekend is upon us and next week cannot come soon enough. Next week, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week kicks off. The week will see the debut of Saint Augustine Academy’s women’s ready-to-wear line. However, this does not take away from the men’s collection, where all the stops have been pulled out in anticipation of one of Saint Augustine Academy’s finest collections to date. Lets just say that they have a classic, yet modern outlook for the upcoming season that will be sure to turn heads.

Saint Augustine Academy – Quite Flattered

Written by Carl on Friday, January 9th, 2009 | 2009, quote, saint augustine academy

For-Tomorrow just posted an interview they did with Saint Augustine Academy designer Alvin Manalo.  Covering their latest fall collection, “Corpus Christi Carol”, I drew a comparison between the collection and the influence of English dandy George Bryan Brummell…and what do you know?  It popped up in For-Tomorrow’s interview.

As suggested on TheFashionisto.com, do you agree the collection resembles ’George Bryan Brummell’?

-I’m quite flattered with the comparison because the collection is supposed to of that era although many references were also taken from English and Spanish royalty 1500’s-1600’s.

Check out the rest of the interview at For-Tomorrow.
