Strangely enough, this year marked campaign firsts for three labels of interest–Patrik Ervell, Tim Hamilton and notably Raf Simons. All three, quite simple in nature, hit a chord that characterized the label perfectly. So often the rebel, Raf Simons employed a model screaming at his logo, while enveloped in this season’s tailored, but oversize silhouette. Meanwhile, Patrik Ervell found grounding in the anonymous silhouette that highlighted his sporty side. Finally, Tim Hamilton portrayed his man of sophistication, surprisingly hiding his unusual details that set him apart. Altogether, the three labels delivered a great first go and we cannot wait to see what’s in the works for spring 2010.

For his first Paris junket, American designer Tim Hamilton looked to the stars above for inspiration and the end result is a futuristic collection that seems simple enough, but not for the faint of heart. The collection’s garments are loose and relaxed, but with reason. Embracing a sheer and sheen policy, the collection evolves around see-through numbers like the translucent coat or nylon leggings. However, asymmetrical cuts do lend the sheer number a new lease on life, while jumpsuits and below the knee suiting shorts reflect some type of normalcy. All in all, Hamilton’s Paris venture follows closely on the heels of his fall collection, but without the opaque materials. After all, who needs clothes to cover themselves?

Tim Hamilton has landed in old Paris to close out fashion week this upcoming Monday with his European debut. Bringing sheer and translucent pieces center stage, he is sure to fit right in with his colleagues. And for the consumer — it’s never too early to start shaping and toning in anticipation of next spring’s barely there trends.
