Paris Fashion Week | Viktor & Rolf Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 | 2010, Clément Chabernaud, Runway, alexander johansson, bastiaan ninaber, fall, fall 2010, gerhard freidl, jakob hybholt, mathias lauridsen, paris fashion week, simon nessman, viktor & rolf

Borrowing this season’s theme from the Rolling Stones song Paint It Black, designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren bring their signature menswear quirks to the runway for the first time. Unveiling a refined collection based in a dark color palette, points of interest are sporadic as the Viktor & Rolf man is doused in paint. Always alert of this danger, the collection provides for a juxtaposing of the formal and casual, ranging from quilting and trousers with elasticated cuffs to the full on dinner jacket. Staging a small show for the first time around, Viktor & Rolf played it cautious, but with added confidence and a penchant for the absurd, the sky is the limit with the future boding well.

Twin Set | Viktor & Rolf by Blommers & Schumm

Written by Carl on Saturday, November 21st, 2009 | 2009, blommers & schumm, editorial, gq style italy, viktor & rolf

The fall/winter issue of GQ Style Italy sees the meeting of two duos–design icons Viktor & Rolf and photography team Blommers & Schumm. Styling themselves, Viktor & Rolf showcase pieces from their fall 2009 Monsieur collection. Possessing such charisma, it is not difficult to find the charm in Viktor & Rolf as both designers and a label.

Spring 2010 | Viktor & Rolf–Monsieur Collection

Written by Carl on Monday, November 16th, 2009 | 2009, 2010, lookbooks/presentations, spring, spring 2010, viktor & rolf

We previously covered the spring 2010 collection of Viktor & Rolf back in June, but with a new set of detailed pictures, the range deserves a second look.

Typically structured and very conscious about construction, silhouette and quality when it comes to suiting in menswear, this season, Viktor & Rolf take the less traveled approach, settling for a suit that is more broken down and effortless in nature. Relaxed, pre-wrinkled fabrics act as the collection’s canvas as Viktor & Rolf take a low-brow stab at the traditional suit–leaving room for a soft silhouette that seamlessly flows from one hem to the next–as any spring piece should.

Dressing Down – Viktor & Rolf Fall 2009

Written by Carl on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 | 2009, fall, fall 2009, viktor & rolf

Formal and casual dress collide in the latest collection from Viktor & Rolf. This season is all about the guy who just cannot bring himself to dress entirely one way, so why not present him with the best of both worlds. In this case, Viktor & Rolf went as far as to pair a cropped tuxedo jacket with sneakers and their own hybrid of sweats and trousers.
