Rejecting a fitted silhouette, the latest from Marc Jacobs plays with volume and an earthy range of colors. Taking their young man from day to evening with a flexible wardrobe of casual and formal garments, a focus on solids drives an accessible array of options that are as trendy as they are timeless.

New York Fashion Week | Richard Chai Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Monday, February 15th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, aiden andrews, alexander johansson, aram gevorgyan, briane hatcher, charlie westerberg, fall, fall 2010, grayson vaughn, jakob hybholt, james hampson, jeremy young, joan pedrola, luis borges, mathias bergh, matthew hitt, michael whittaker, new york fashion week, paolo anchisi, richard chai, robbie wadge, roy pratt, william eustace

Taking a step back from last season’s collection, designer Richard Chai opts for a casual fall season of blues, grays and blacks. Evoking the image of the boy next door, Chai ties together a string of loose easily integrable pieces that imitate a little wear around the edges with oil-like gradients, thin layers and slouchy fits. Continuing a comfortable blend of streetwear with a high fashion approach, Chai crafts a sophisticated yet relaxed fall season.

Subscribing to a palette of neutrals and festive colors, Lacoste continues New York’s colorful streak. Taking to a yellow runway, there was no reason to be gloomy at Lacoste’s show. Embracing relaxed silhouettes of sporty yet chic separates, the label’s accessibility factor was through the roof as look after look produced comfortable updated staples.

New York Fashion Week | Generra Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Saturday, February 13th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, abiah hostvedt, aiden andrews, briane hatcher, collin tennant, fall, fall 2010, francisco lachowski, generra, isaac carew, jamil ramirez, robbie wadge, rutger derksen, ty akintayo, william eustace, yuri pleskun

Generra’s newest creative team Swaim and Christina Hutson decided to infuse the season with color. Dopey and upbeat, the collection sought to take the ordinary and lend it a new lease on life. A ball of quirks unravelled, the Hutsons offered everything from a daring jumpsuit and grandpa cardigan to straight-laced workwear. Proving that you do not have break the mold to have a little fun, the range ensures an electrifying season come fall, whether bundled in a coat or dressed in a striking suit.

New York Fashion Week | Patrik Ervell Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Saturday, February 13th, 2010 | 2010, aiden andrews, alexander johansson, aram gevorgyan, charlie westerberg, eric anderson, fall, fall 2010, grayson vaughn, joan pedrola, lookbooks/presentations, matthew hitt, matvey lykov, new york fashion week, patrik ervell, robbie wadge, roy pratt

Opting for a presentation this season, but still giving his audience the runway experience, Patrik Ervell sent his models into a flurry as they were put on constant rotation making their way through a maze-like setup–dissected by the suspended pieces of translucent fabric that in fact mirrored the collection’s constrained playfulness. Fitted and strong on structure, Ervell’s minimalist tendencies were fused with the unexpected gracefulness of soft moving latex rubber and transparent vinyl. The product of a finely executed imagination, Ervell’s simple eccentricities blended harmoniously with with neutral based garments, crafted from wool and tweed. Set to the frantic music of Terry Riley, Ervell served a beautiful collection of controlled insanity–monochromatic numbers, meticulous tailoring and a uniform fit that felt fresh yet organic.
