Paris Fashion Week | Miharayasuhiro Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 | 2010, Douglas Jewell, Runway, bastiaan ninaber, fall, fall 2010, george barnett, jeremy young, luis borges, miharayasuhiro, paris fashion week, rutger derksen, thomas penfound, tom nicon, william eustace

Ushering in a sea of buffalo checks, stripes, denim washes, speckles, patches and plaid, Miharayasuhiro’s latest collection gave the appearance that its models had raided a goodwill store with an interesting outcome by chance. Embracing an eclectic nature, the range finds itself with plenty of lively shirting options as well as chunky knits that double as outerwear. Meanwhile, proportions are all over the board, with the majority of pieces enjoying an oversize comfort. Rounding out the collection is the choice to take on a conservative pair of slim-fitted trousers or the collection’s more personable approach to patched denim. Overall, the range maintains a casualness that is in sync with the times, offering a certain charm and a piece for everyone.

Paris Fashion Week | Dries Van Noten Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 | 2010, Clément Chabernaud, Douglas Jewell, Kristian Akegren, Runway, Stas Svetlichnyy, adrian bosch, adrien sahores, alex dunstan, anthon wellsjo, arthur daniyarov, bastiaan ninaber, benoni loos, cole mohr, douglas neitzke, dries van noten, fall, fall 2010, george barnett, jakob hybholt, jakob wiechmann, joan pedrola, marko brozic, matvey lykov, nicolas ripoll, paris fashion week, patrick meckelburg, philipp bierbaum, robbie wadge, tom nicon, trent kendrick, tyler riggs, william eustace

Dries Van Noten sent a graphic parade down the runway earlier today with detailed piping and larger than life prints making quite the statement. Riding an influx of color and excitement, Dries Van Noten interjected men’s suiting with great personality. From dressed down sweats-styled trousers and bold electric blue separates to contrasting inserts, Van Noten’s man proved to be the life of the party. Bridging the gap between modest and playful, the collection executed a well-balanced turn at a personable collection for the man of all occasions.

Milan Fashion Week | Z Zegna Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 | 2010, Douglas Jewell, Runway, adrian wlodarski, alexander johansson, arthur daniyarov, bastiaan ninaber, benoni loos, charlie france, cole mohr, fall, fall 2010, francisco lachowski, gerhard freidl, isaac carew, jeremy young, johannes linder, lasse pedersen, linus gustin, mark cox, mathias bergh, matt benstead, milan fashion week, nick rae, paul boche, philipp bierbaum, rob rae, theo hall, thomas hoefnagels, ty akintayo, william eustace, zegna

Milan Fashion Week comes to a dreary close with Z Zegna’s sterile fall outing. Somber, save for a couple brown pieces, Z Zegna’s fall 2010 collection manages to make fall 2009’s overall blackout seem colorful. The label turned to tonal panneling and interesting details to progress this season’ direction, but ultimately came up short, washing out the best attributes by failing to offset a constant visual with arresting difference.

Milan Fashion Week | Alexander McQueen Fall ‘10

Written by Carl on Monday, January 18th, 2010 | 2010, Douglas Jewell, Runway, alexander mcqueen, bastiaan ninaber, collin tennant, fall, fall 2010, jacob coupe, lasse pedersen, lucas mascarini, marcel castenmiller, milan fashion week, steffen weng, will defiel

After a season’s break, Alexander McQueen returns to the runway with the usual theatrics subdued. Tightly wound to create tension, the enigmatic collection sets the stage with intense camouflage, balaclavas and drastic silhouettes. Appearing as if doused in a spontaneous yet rhythmic sequence of prints, McQueen breathes life into a mysterious character that brings with him uncertainty and excitement. The results are a playful mix of unorthodox shapes that capture McQueen’s genius and imagination, while also coinciding harmoniously with the collection’s more grounded pieces. Altogether, Mcqueen’s fall outing adds a generous vitality to suiting and outerwear through prints, before progressing forward with boxy cuts, textured inserts and layered proportions.

Milan Fashion Week | Prada Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Sunday, January 17th, 2010 | 2010, Douglas Jewell, Runway, Tristan Knights, adrien sahores, aiden andrews, albert krarup, alexander johansson, aram gevorgyan, bastiaan ninaber, charlie france, fall, fall 2010, gen huisman, george barnett, gerhard freidl, jakob hybholt, james hampson, joan pedrola, johannes linder, linus gustin, lucas mascarini, mark cox, mathias bergh, milan fashion week, philipp bierbaum, prada, rob rae, robbie wadge, theo hall, william eustace

The last two seasons, Miuccia Prada’s vision has dictated an overwhelming presence of studs and mesh. Taking a nostalgic step back, Prada lightens up this season with a retro-inspired collection. Easing away from the color black, coral, yellow, cobalt and orange are introduced to lend Prada’s shrunken knits and doubled collars a peppy spirit. Meanwhile, loafers and pleated trousers complete an unwavering nod to the past.
