Paris Fashion Week | Gareth Pugh Fall/Winter 2010

Written by Carl on Thursday, March 4th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, alex dunstan, fall, fall 2010, gareth pugh, johannes linder, mark cox, matthew hitt, matvey lykov, paris fashion week

As Gareth Pugh continues to blur the gender line, his menswear has gradually become less affected, while conveying a certain softness. Dressed in his customary color palette of black and gray, this season’s collection takes an affection for light and thoughtful draping. Relaxed and less body conscious than previous seasons, the Pugh man is undoubtedly on the cusp of tomorrow’s fashion, but his direction is more subtle. Still however, Gareth Pugh gains attention with a mischevious attention to detail as seen in the collection’s more provocative leather pieces–often reminiscent of S&M themes and the designer’s edge factor.

London Fashion Week | J.W. Anderson Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, bastiaan ninaber, callum wilson, fall, fall 2010, j.w. anderson, jacob coupe, johannes linder, london fashion week, william eustace

For the fall 2010 season, J.W. Anderson’s more graceful approach to menswear is at odds with an imaginative rebellious faction. Inspired by “saints or assassins with a cross-country paramilitary vibe”, Anderson pulls from varied references including his Irish heritage. The result are constrasting elements that can be interpreted in several ways. For instance, the romantic idea of countryside plaid is understated with subdued colors and a semi-traditional cut before going the way of a punk aesthetic with a vibrant red and more modern cuts. From stern dark suiting and bold wraps to the quaint cardigan, J.W. Anderson layers this season’s collection with excitement and unexpectedness.

London Fashion Week | Margaret Howell Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Monday, February 22nd, 2010 | 2010, fall, fall 2010, james hampson, johannes linder, london fashion week, lookbooks/presentations, margaret howell, matthew hitt, william eustace

An effortless exerise of restraint marks Margaret Howell’s approach for fall. Taking to elongated proportions, relaxed pleats and an overall casualness, Howell provides the modern staples, which in the right hands have the potential to take wardrobes to new levels. Armed with an arsenal of low-key shirting options, suiting and outerwear, the Margaret Howell man is understated, but nevertheless chic.

Written by Carl on Sunday, February 21st, 2010 | 2010, Eddie Klint, Runway, copenhagen fashion week, fall, fall 2010, johannes linder, wood wood

Taking to a lived-in approach for their most recent collection, the latest from Wood Wood plays house to fall’s rich earthy hues. Almost a careless afterthought, save for the collection’s quiet confidence, the range pairs varied proportions together for a casual walkthrough of menswear essentials. From an infectious printed knit to a voluminous parka, Wood Wood’s fall outing is accompanied by both a vintage feel and youthful excitement.

Copenhagen Fashion Week | Bruuns Bazaar Fall ‘10

Written by Carl on Sunday, February 21st, 2010 | 2010, Runway, bruuns bazaar, copenhagen fashion week, fall, fall 2010, johannes linder, lasse pedersen, mathias lauridsen

The leading face of Bruuns Bazaar for the last consecutive seasons, top model Mathias Lauridsen was on hand for the label’s recent showing at Copenhagen Fashion Week. A modest run-through of classic Scandinavian styling, the collection took subtle strides with comfortable printed knits and a prominent charcoal colored palette. While suiting maintained semi-relaxed proportions, outerwear moved in a sportswear direction that highlighted a heritage of quality and accessibility.

London Fashion Week | DAKS Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, adrien brunier, daks, fall, fall 2010, johannes linder, london fashion week

A somber palette of black and gray overtake the latest collection from DAKS. Blending a touch of refinement with the strength of a modest militaristic undertaking, the collection shapes up nicely with a tight run of outerwear and suiting separates.
