Color and emotion are central to the story that Robert Geller has in store for spring 2010. Known for his genius use of color, Geller turned to German artist Michael Sowa for inspiration. Using color in a meaningful way that elicits strong emotions, the collection contrasts electric blue, mustard yellow, cobalt and purple against black and white for an effect that is empowering. Geller does not dabble in color, but jumps in head first, dressing his garments in vivid hues that stand apart from a sea of safe choices. Evoking both regal and serene sentiments, Geller’s color palette lends the collection a life of its own. Taking on the layering of shorts and leggings, the collection takes firm grasp of an existing trend and adds it to the ever evolving storyline of Geller. Reinterpreting past ventures, stripes find themselves once again in heavy use. Meanwhile, tulle adorns airy layers of waistcoats, tees and jackets that reaffirm the vision of a man with stylish options. Altogether, the collection is quite current–finding the medium to both loose and fitted proportions, while maintaining the integrity of Robert Geller’s established aesthetic.

A heartbeat away from New York Fashion Week, we have VNY Model Management with their all-star cast that includes Lenz Von Johnston, Sean O’pry and Luke Worrall.

Nice Collective will not be doing a formal lookbook this season, but luckily we have the scoop on some fantastic behind the scenes pictures from this past February’s runway show in New York:
Fall 2009 marks Nice Collective’s first time gracing the New York runways. The show was a finely orchestrated muddle of intimidating outcasts strutting down the runway in various forms of undress. The fall collection, based on H.G. Wells’ “The Time Machine,” displayed broken-down long john inspired pieces presented as daywear. The overall dusty, disheveled look of the show invoked a poverty-stricken outsider. However, the inclusion of provocative leather pieces and well-tailored suiting and outerwear added a peculiar sense of confidence. Overall, this collection exhibits a certain unexpectedness that will make for an exciting fall.
