Rei Kawakubo allows the usual play on patterns to take a backseat this season as the Comme des Garçons man bundles up for a cold fall. Crafting a uniform winning look, wrinkled fabrics and corduroy make for the casual outing as suiting finds itself broken into oversize shorts layered with relaxed jackets and trousers. With the small exception of spontaneous bursts of color provided by accessories, the general color palette is subdued–showcasing a new modesty for the Comme des Garçons man.

As a majority of designers avoid color like its the plague, Issey Miyake creative director Dai Fujiwara delivers a refreshing jolt of color. Not afraid to embrace bold colors and prints, the garments of Fujiwara’s man exude a chic lived-in quality. Utilizing darting and wrinkled fabrics, unique garments are created that convey a certain lightness, while also being appropriate for both fall and periods of transition.
