New York Fashion Week | Mik Cire Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Sunday, February 21st, 2010 | 2010, Runway, Stas Svetlichnyy, arthur sales, bastiaan ninaber, berthold rothas, dennis johnson, fall, fall 2010, francisco lachowski, joan pedrola, lenz von johnston, marcel castenmiller, mark cox, mik cire, new york fashion week, roy pratt, william eustace

Reversing the spelling of his full name, designer Eric Kim moves forward with the launch of his new label Mik Cire. Formerly, the creative force behind Monarchy, Kim is branching out to explore a line that entails more than just denim and t-shirts. Hoping to create a full-range of affordable garments with a fashionable appeal, fall’s debut sees a penchant for black effortlessly tied to an accessible look–representative of a generation intrigued with the art of dressing, but ultimately with an approach that is young and current. Combining sharp outerwear with the provocativeness of street fashion, the Mik Cire’s man is off to a beat of his own with great future potential.

New York Fashion Week | Phillip Lim Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Saturday, February 13th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, Stas Svetlichnyy, alexander johansson, charlie westerberg, fall, fall 2010, francisco lachowski, garrett neff, jakob hybholt, jeremy young, joan pedrola, lenz von johnston, mark cox, matvey lykov, new york fashion week, paolo anchisi, philip huang, phillip lim, roy pratt, tyler riggs

Effectively putting his boyish charm to rest, Phillip Lim took his men on a wild ride through the city for the upcoming season. With hair slicked back and strapped boots in toll, Lim’s vision of the city involved bulky coats cinched at the waist and paired with semi-slim silhouettes. Using leather once more to lend his range an edge, Lim looked to monochromatic numbers to navigate the city. However, it was the collection’s tonal checks that made the most significant impact. Based in browns, but graphically strong, Lim’s checks immediately registered as a key symbol of the season. Altogether conservative, but slightly exaggerated proportion-wise, Phillip Lim’s fall outing steers the line in a more market-friendly direction that should boast well for the designer.

New York Fashion Week | Robert Geller Fall 2010

Written by Carl on Saturday, February 13th, 2010 | 2010, Runway, Stas Svetlichnyy, aiden andrews, bastiaan ninaber, charlie westerberg, christian brylle, fall, fall 2010, isaac carew, jakob hybholt, james hampson, joseph culp, lenz von johnston, marcel castenmiller, mark cox, mathias bergh, matthew hitt, matvey lykov, new york fashion week, paul boche, pavel baranov, robbie wadge, robert geller, taylor fuchs, tomek szczukiecki, tyler riggs, william eustace

Positioned as “a tribute to the beauty of mixing wardrobe elements that don’t always seem to fit”, Robert Geller’s latest collection fused the utmost sophistication with the effortless finesse of the downtown beatnik. Playing with fitted and relaxed looks, Geller sent a well-proportioned range down the runway that moved as well as it was styled. Dressed in lilacs, charcoals and greens, Geller’s man was on the move, quickly walking down the runway with an extra bounce in his step. From fur shawls and leather jackets to the cropped asymmetrical cape, the collection produced a modern wardrobe of clarity. Tailoring and great fabrics spoke to the classic sense of the gentleman, but Geller turned this notion on its side, infusing the range with a rebellious quality. For every sleek evening coat, Geller sent out a striking modern piece, whether it was a shrunken dinner jacket or layered blazer. Rounding out fall’s collection, the show closed with a somber number consisting of a cape, elongated top and simple denim. It was the image of the quintessential Robert Geller man–a romantic thought born from the conversation of yesterday and the future.
