Fall 2008 Trends: Inside These Pants

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Top Row (left to right): Endovanera, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Perry Ellis Signature

Bottom Row (left to right): Unconditional, KTZ, Robert Geller, Richard Lindqvist

The Trend: Inside These Pants

What: Switch out the jeans and traditional trousers.  This season is all about mixing it up.  With a new collision of materials, silhouettes, and a splash of color, nothing is off limits.  Be on the look out for tapered sweats, excessive pleating, and relaxed loose fits.

With: Focus on your overall silhouette.  If going with a super relaxed bottom, bring the top half in and make it slim.  If you’re working with tapered bottoms, the options are endless depending on your individual style.  Keep it slim, but not as narrow as your bottom or wear exaggerated portions; skinny bottom, oversized top.

Romeo Gigli Spring 2009

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

I like the creative play demonstrated with the oversized proportions and off balance of gender appropriateness in Romeo Gigli’s spring 2009 collection.  Style wise, I must point out the socks in the bottom two pictures.  Excellent look!  Occasionally, I like to mix it up and wear shorts with long socks as pictured.  However, I always play the color down so it flows easier and is not hard on the eyes.

Henrik Vibskov Spring 2009

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

These are pictures of Henrik Vibskov’s show for Copenhagen Fashion Week.  Fresh on the heels of Paris, I still like the silhouettes of the outerwear and the direction he is moving in with his staple of shorts.

Jean Phillip Fall 2008

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I stumbled upon this collection and the proportions are wonderful.  Take a look at the top right picture.  The crop of the jacket is a nice change from the usual.  However, I feel like this collection is bipolar.  It’s like Slimane’s apprentice battling with Dior Homme on acid aka under Kris Van Assche’s direction.  I’ll leave at that.  Other than the above, this collection is definitely a gem.
