Peak of the Season–Joining forces for a collaboration not to be missed, designer Brian Wood and Aarron Ginsberg of Ducksworth come together for a 1950’s Americana inspired capsule collection. Offering a selection of t-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts and thermal shirts, each piece features tea stained fabrics and contrasting constructions with appliqué canvas patch on the back. Avalanche Peak is available for purchase at Probus NYC.
Torn between playing nice and living up to a bad boy image, Ethan James, Thomas Hassler, Kevin Jakter and Luke Lysdahl assemble for a nonchalant day of shooting the breeze captured by Kirt Reynolds. Complementing a generous selection of the latest from Brian Wood, New York-based retailer Convent NYC opens up their doors for a casual pool from stylist Geraldine Laiz that bridges the gap between spring and summer.

Near impossible to pinpoint aesthetically, Brian Wood’s upcoming spring range shows his penchant for unpredictability. Leaving behind a dark season inspired by night stalkers, Wood gravitates towards a conservative silhouette that he playfully dresses with varied stripes and camouflage prints. On first observation, this may seem like a terrible idea, but paired with a genuine sense of style, Wood’s quirky pieces just may be on to something.

In both the book and movie adaption of “The Rules of Attraction” by Bret Easton Ellis, a pivotal scene is when the lead character of Sean Bateman relates that “No one ever ever knows anyone.” To a certain extent, this quote best encompasses the idea behind Brian Wood’s latest collection “Night Stalkers.” It is human nature to not fully divulge everything, instead withholding parts of ourselves as an advantage. In this vein, Wood plays with the idea of “Night Stalkers”, taking a look at the dark side of human nature that is often concealed. Emphasizing the night, black is the main color of the collection, while rolled up sleeves reveal hidden splatters of blood. Most notably, a pair of eyes behind binoculars serves as the collection’s branding image and adds a certain quirkiness. Overall, this collection progresses Brian Wood’s tongue in cheek design nature, while remaining dedicated to great function and excellent construction.
Brian Wood is the designer self-titled collection derived from the earlier Brian Wood exclusive label. After internships with Anna Sui, Sean John, and work as a design assistant for Andrew Marc and Vintage Red, Brian Wood launched his own line Brian Wood exclusive. The line served as an outlet to create and produce quirky t-shirts. Later, Wood dropped the exclusive and established another label, Brian Wood for his complete menswear collections. Brian Wood approaches fashion as a mixing pot. He tries to find a balance between high-end fashion and streetwear in hopes to create something that offers an alternative, but can also be worn. This season, over-the-top collegian meets streetwear.
