Pick­ing up sub­tle inspi­ra­tions from the wild west of the nine­teenth cen­tury or Ser­gio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, West­phal mixes busi­ness and plea­sure for an eclec­tic range of intrigu­ing cuts. Christian Westphal | Fall 2010

Inspired by the Renais­sance heroes of Tiz­ian and El Greco, Chris­t­ian West­phal walks a tight line for the fall sea­son. Bal­anc­ing sub­dued glamor with a detail-​​oriented per­spec­tive, West­phal explores the idea of refined urban wear. With “bot­tle green opti­mism, turquoise crispi­ness and navy blue clas­si­cism” as an accent, a mono­chro­matic color palette dresses the collection’s arse­nal of armor-​​worthy suit­ing. Fit­ted or over­size and cinched, West­phal does well by the male form, expand­ing the range from relaxed trousers to casual ripped denim. All encom­pass­ing, fall’s col­lec­tion allows its wearer to play it safe or go a lit­tle more adven­tur­ous with chic new silhouettes.

Christian Westphal Spring 2010 Preview

Dan­ish designer Chris­t­ian West­phal will be show­ing his col­lec­tion for the first time in Tokyo dur­ing October’s Japan Fash­ion Week. The upcom­ing col­lec­tion is inspired by the Ger­man children’s book, The Shock­headed Peter. It’s far too early to give too much away, but the quirky col­lec­tion does have a fun time explor­ing a child’s imag­i­na­tion, where night­mares are a real­ity and shapes know no bounds.
