Copenhagen based label, Day Birger et Mikkelsen adds another collection to their arsenol with their “High Summer” collection. The collection picks up smoothly where the last one left off, moving from beige dominated pieces to a cool blue and gray monochromatic color palette. The jackets are lighter and the shorts get shorter, but the effortless chic attributes remain. A standout is the denim inspired jacket and shorts number. Perhaps they are too much together, but they have the potential to be versatile stylish pieces when separated. This idea is true of most of the collection that boasts easy to integrate pieces.

Day Birger et Mikkelsen, founded in 1998 is based in Copenhagen. Keld Mikkelsen, one of the label’s founding members began work in the textile industry before transitioning into the fashion industry. Mikkelsen founded his line wanting to avoid a focus on sales and profits. According to him, he “wanted to celebrate a brand based on beautiful designs more than anything else.” As Creative Director of Day Birger et Mikkelsen, he has stayed true to that vision. The label is known for their great craftsmanship and styling.
This season, Day Birger et Mikkelsen takes on the classics in light core colors like gray and white with the subtle use of more dominant colors like navy. Maintaining traditional silhouettes, but an array of quality materials, this collection is for the man from all walks of life who will be met with not only great style, but comfort. This is a case where I’m at a lost for words. There are so many things about this collection I like. Second row, third picture; I like the gray cable knit sweater and the styling of the shirt tied around the waist. Lately, I’ve been obsessing over the color burgundy, but have yet to add any pieces of that color to my wardrobe. The burgundy shirt in the third row, third picture worn under the suit is an impressive look and only compels me to actually begin my search. I love it when colors pop without being obnoxious; think neon green, orange, aqua, etc. I’m also liking the high waisted pants in the last picture. Lastly, the boots look great with these looks. A shout out to Paolo. If you were still uneasy about boots, you should be ordering a pair right this moment.
