Hail­ing from Thai­land, designer Ek Thong­prasert brings us a col­lec­tion of con­tro­ver­sial pro­por­tions. Thongprasert’s spring 2010 col­lec­tion enti­tled “Meus Uni­ver­si­tas” or My World is founded on the idea of firm believes with­out doubt. Inspired by Catholi­cism and the faux real­ity that board­ing schools cre­ate, Thong­prasert has crafted a col­lec­tion that inter­jects the scholar’s uni­form with details derived from the Vat­i­can. A boy­ish charm is cre­ated by the collection’s cropped jack­ets, while embroi­dery and lay­er­ing lend them­selves to an old world appeal. As a final touch, the wooden rosary takes cen­ter stage as the acces­sory of the sea­son, prompt­ing one to pon­der if reli­gious sub­jects have a place in fash­ion or is it all just too risky?
