International Flair–General Idea takes on a preppy note for the spring 2012 season, bringing a certain vibrancy with a spirited color palette. Vacationing in France with shorted suiting looks and bursts of turquoise as well as orange, the Korean label juxtaposes a sharp philosophy with a relaxed attitude. With the likes of double-breasted blazers made sporty with drawstring accents, shirting is deconstructed with prints for a continued laid-back streak. Rounding out nautical pairings with stripes and color blocking, General Idea charms with a mix of approachable separates and an infectious motif.

Tying together a gradual progression of color and silhouettes, General Idea’s recent New York showing of the latest collection entitled Nostalgia delighted the senses with a variety of bold cuts and graphic prints. Kicking the show off with a crisp fashionable take on sportswear dressed in fiery red, designer Bumsuk Choi addressed the basics before trying his hand at the modern silhouette. Relaxed and extended, the touch of an artist came to mind with splashes of paint across trousers, while a fitting blast from the past came forth in a segment of workerswear perfected with drawstring belting.
