Gian Romano is the first Filipino designer to showcase his collection at Singapore’s Audi Fashion Festival, together with international designers such as Gareth Pugh and Vivienne Westwood. Romano recalled, “It’s actually very surreal to think about it. Being able to show at the same festival with Gareth, Christian Lacroix and Viviene Westwood. While I was there, nothing sunk in. It was fun, but at the same time tiring, because everything was kind of a blur. He also apprenticed with Three Asfour, downtown New York’s most conceptual and intellectual design collective. Coming a long way since, Romano presents his collection entitled “Fettile Derelicts” is about displaced forms and urban nomads; “taking part inspiration from how homeless people layer clothes during winter and coming up with a certain silhouette.”
