“We buy. We spend. We pick. We wear. Simply because we need. Fashion is as natural an impulse as a spree in the supermarket.” For their fall 2009 collection, Ground-Zero designers Eri and Philip Chu were inspired by the parallel drawn between a need for food and clothes. As usual, the unisex line explores oversize proportions and symbolic graphics that a make a statement about the current state of the world and its economy.
Hong Kong based label, Ground-Zero’s spring collection is titled “Lazy, Naughty, Sleepy.” The collection is inspired by the childhoods of Ground-Zero’s designers, Eric and Philip Chu. Motivated by childhood naps, The Chu brothers have created a nostalgic collection of slumber-inspired pieces. The ultra-casual collection has youthful fun with prints featuring the Care Bears and go as far as to borrow the shape of a pillowcase for a shirt, while using the blanket as the perfect form for a cape. However, this collection is not all innocent fun. These Care Bears never turn down a good smoke.
