Jaiden rVa James Fall 2009 — “Human Nature”

Each sea­son, Jaiden rVa James chal­lenges the con­ven­tional way clothes and gen­der norms are inter­preted. For the upcom­ing fall sea­son, friends Jaiden James and Rasharn De Vera Agye­mang explore the dark side of the human psy­che tap­ping into taboo sex­ual urges and fem­i­nin­ity. The collection’s ini­tial inspi­ra­tion was Sir John Everett Mil­lais’ “Ophe­lia.” Ophe­lia was often sym­bol­i­cally rep­re­sented by flow­ers and it was her lust for Ham­let that ulti­mately resulted in her mad­ness. Ophelia’s flow­ers and mad­ness are the direct moti­va­tion for adorn­ing the col­lec­tion with flow­ers and strait­jack­ets. This direc­tion is exe­cuted into an odd but beau­ti­ful col­lec­tion of S&M inspired leather­wear, rub­ber leg­gings, and flo­ral pleated skirts that would have Marc Jacobs in a frenzy.

Jaiden rVa James Spring 2009

Exposed. This spring, Jaiden rVa James’ ging­ham affair is on dis­play for all.  Cre­at­ing this col­lec­tion, the label has traded in lace and sub­dued col­ors for ging­ham and spring pas­tels. The shirts and jack­ets are decked out in ging­ham and adorned with over­sized pock­ets. These pieces are com­pli­mented by below the knee shorts with a hint of ging­ham, and solid, pleated high-​​waisted trousers.

Jaiden rVa James Fall 2008

Jaiden rVa James is a new label based out of the United King­dom.  The label is a col­lab­o­ra­tive effort between friends Jaiden James and Rasharn De Vera Agye­mang.  Their fall col­lec­tion pushes gen­der bound­aries with lace, sequins, vel­vet, and sheer inno­va­tion.  The new col­lec­tion is per­fect for a night out on the town and def­i­nitely not for the faint of heart.  How fash­ion for­ward are you?
