Each season, Jaiden rVa James challenges the conventional way clothes and gender norms are interpreted. For the upcoming fall season, friends Jaiden James and Rasharn De Vera Agyemang explore the dark side of the human psyche tapping into taboo sexual urges and femininity. The collection’s initial inspiration was Sir John Everett Millais’ “Ophelia.” Ophelia was often symbolically represented by flowers and it was her lust for Hamlet that ultimately resulted in her madness. Ophelia’s flowers and madness are the direct motivation for adorning the collection with flowers and straitjackets. This direction is executed into an odd but beautiful collection of S&M inspired leatherwear, rubber leggings, and floral pleated skirts that would have Marc Jacobs in a frenzy.

Exposed. This spring, Jaiden rVa James’ gingham affair is on display for all. Creating this collection, the label has traded in lace and subdued colors for gingham and spring pastels. The shirts and jackets are decked out in gingham and adorned with oversized pockets. These pieces are complimented by below the knee shorts with a hint of gingham, and solid, pleated high-waisted trousers.

Jaiden rVa James is a new label based out of the United Kingdom. The label is a collaborative effort between friends Jaiden James and Rasharn De Vera Agyemang. Their fall collection pushes gender boundaries with lace, sequins, velvet, and sheer innovation. The new collection is perfect for a night out on the town and definitely not for the faint of heart. How fashion forward are you?
