Sun­shine Days!–Gant by Michael Bastian takes us inside their spring 2012 col­lec­tion pre­sen­ta­tion, com­plete with a vari­ety of bold col­ors. Inspired by an imag­ined sce­nario of how Hawaii should be, com­bined with a bit of Brady Bunch nos­tal­gia, the designer him­self walks us through the collection.

Back to the Stage–Fus­ing the near-​​retro casu­al­ness of the coun­try with the sleepy atti­tude of beach towns, Michael Bas­t­ian returns to the cat­walk after a sea­son off. Dress­ing his man for a sea­son of leisure, Bastian’s typ­i­cal preppy aes­thetic is mar­ried with the laid-​​back essence of sum­mer sta­ples, rang­ing from board shorts and open shirts to denim. Still main­tain­ing a degree of sharp­ness, the easy show­ing was com­pleted with a selec­tion of fine essen­tials that tack­led charm­ing knits and tai­lored suit­ing alike.

Sun­shine Days–In the week lead­ing up to New York Fash­ion Week, Gant by Michael Bas­t­ian has launched a blog as an exclu­sive pre­view of the prep work that goes into their show each sea­son. With con­tri­bu­tions by the entire Gant team, the blog already has a few posts under its belt includ­ing infor­ma­tion about col­lec­tion inspi­ra­tions and images from cast­ing, fea­tur­ing Sebas­t­ian Sauve and Ken­zie Roth.

This sea­son, Gant recruited designer Michael Bas­t­ian for Gant by Michael Bas­t­ian. View­ing the range as the wardrobe of “the younger brother to the Michael Bas­t­ian guy”, the designer’s col­lec­tion was inspired by lacrosse and Gant’s archives. Going for a casual vibe, the laid­back col­lec­tion was show­cased dur­ing a pre­sen­ta­tion, where mod­els gath­ered in a locker room to shoot the breeze. Includ­ing every­thing from knitwear and khakis to mesh shorts, Bastian’s Gant out­ing was the time­less mar­riage of prep and jock.

Engulfed in a world of excess, Michael Bastian’s sophis­ti­cated man embarks on a win­ter get­away that pro­vides a low-​​key mode. Slowly shed­ding the the man­i­fes­ta­tions of a proper evening out, tai­lored jack­ets and rep­tile acces­sories are left behind for more func­tional wear. Embrac­ing quilted out­er­wear, denim, flan­nel and charm­ing knits, Bastian’s man takes a break from the struc­ture of an ele­vated lifestyle for an easy­go­ing tran­si­tion into winter’s acces­si­ble fashions.
