Back to the Stage–Fusing the near-retro casualness of the country with the sleepy attitude of beach towns, Michael Bastian returns to the catwalk after a season off. Dressing his man for a season of leisure, Bastian’s typical preppy aesthetic is married with the laid-back essence of summer staples, ranging from board shorts and open shirts to denim. Still maintaining a degree of sharpness, the easy showing was completed with a selection of fine essentials that tackled charming knits and tailored suiting alike.

Sunshine Days–In the week leading up to New York Fashion Week, Gant by Michael Bastian has launched a blog as an exclusive preview of the prep work that goes into their show each season. With contributions by the entire Gant team, the blog already has a few posts under its belt including information about collection inspirations and images from casting, featuring Sebastian Sauve and Kenzie Roth.

This season, Gant recruited designer Michael Bastian for Gant by Michael Bastian. Viewing the range as the wardrobe of “the younger brother to the Michael Bastian guy”, the designer’s collection was inspired by lacrosse and Gant’s archives. Going for a casual vibe, the laidback collection was showcased during a presentation, where models gathered in a locker room to shoot the breeze. Including everything from knitwear and khakis to mesh shorts, Bastian’s Gant outing was the timeless marriage of prep and jock.

Engulfed in a world of excess, Michael Bastian’s sophisticated man embarks on a winter getaway that provides a low-key mode. Slowly shedding the the manifestations of a proper evening out, tailored jackets and reptile accessories are left behind for more functional wear. Embracing quilted outerwear, denim, flannel and charming knits, Bastian’s man takes a break from the structure of an elevated lifestyle for an easygoing transition into winter’s accessible fashions.
