Entitled “Classic Never Die, But Desire New Classic”, the latest collection from Ossa Mondo, takes traditional symbols of sophistication and lends them a casual urban vibe. Houndstooth is used boldly in a way that evokes images of classic labels like Chanel, while fur is downplayed in the form of hooded sweatshirts. Meanwhile, ripped denim and leggings are thrown into the mix for a contemporary look on point with the times. As usual, Ossa Mondo has fun with their collection, turning out yet another range that is stylish, carefree and youthful.

Founded in 2001, Ossa Mondo holds true to the tradition of Japanese tailoring and fashion as an art form. The Ossa Mondo names consists of “OSSA”, which stands for “Optional Scope of Splendid Association”, and “Mondo”, which is derived from the Portuguese word meaning world. Instead of a narrow focus, Ossa Mondo is concerned with widening their scope and taking inspiration from diverse worldwide sources. This philosophy results in the latest collection — a mixed bag of unexpectedness. At times, the collection tends to get busy. The range includes everything from simple tees featuring color blocks to tees that are overembellished with studs and other elements. However, cut and proportion are on point when it comes to the collection’s cropped jacket and sheer number. In the midst of all this, it is the solid safe pieces that stand out and ground the collection.
