Describing Patrick Mohr’s latest collection to hit Berlin’s runway as unconventional would be an understatement. For the spring 2010 season, Mohr’s ghoulish presentation begs to ask the question, “Is the rhomboid ragpicker homeless?” Comparing an individual’s developing identity to the items a ragpicker collects on a daily basis, Mohr was drawn to an idea of progression. In this vein, street rags are transformed into garments of importance and what would otherwise be considered avant-garde fashion inspires a form of accessible streetwear. At large, Mohr creates a world that has clear intentions, yet appears foreign under the constraints of what norm dictates.
