Being sure to cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s, Peter Jensen sent his man down the runway in a colorful array of ensembles that evoked images of a well-groomed paper doll. Unleashing a fearless explosion of color on the catwalk, a wardrobe of shrunken proportions quickly came together. From a parka and swimming trunks to the blazer, Peter Jensen boldly gave the expected a new unexpected lease on life with a subtle nod to retro influences and a bold sense of character.

Relying less on quirks and more on structure, Peter Jensen’s man gets a sophisticated makeover for the fall 2010 season. Dressed in neutrals with a hint of color, the collection builds upon a need for essentials before adding Jensen’s signature charm in a subtle fashion. From twinsets and shrunken blazers to generally boxy fits, Jensen treads a safe path for the upcoming season, but still manages not to stray from his upbeat vision.

Employing a coy suggestion of pure innocence, Peter Jensen approaches spring with fashionably awkward proportions that are sure to pepper the season with sugar and spice. While fitted coordinating ensembles possess the charm of trouble-free days past, a looser silhouette results in trousers that are reminiscent of loungewear. Meanwhile, boxy jackets and coats tie up loose ends, rounding out a range for the young at heart, who appreciate a little quirk in their step.

Layered to the point of unease and dressed in an array of colors from black to hot pink, the Peter Jensen man is a story waiting to be unwrapped. Peter Jensen’s fall collection is exceptionally personal. Inspired and fashioned after his Aunt Jytte, the seventies, and Greenland, Jensen’s collection dares to be different. Incorporating gingham, floral, pinstripes, and other patterns, the collection provides for a diverse range. Dissecting the runway looks, there are a plethora of fall-ready blazers, knits, and trousers. Individually, the pieces provide for both the youthful and serious aspects of fashion. The pinstripes and solids can be taken into a business meeting, while floral and brightly colored blazers are perfect for a day out on the town. The folkloric quirkiness of Peter Jensen’s collection offers the type of versatility that an always evolving sense of style demands.

I’m all for crazy fashion, but these wool scarves are out there. I wouldn’t wear one, but I still think they are fun. I have a lot of respect for the person that can actually make one of these work.
