Smart Quirks–Petrou\Man takes a walk on the wild side for the spring 2012 sea­son, mix­ing designer Nico­las Petrou’s pen­chant for prints with a sharp uni­form. Derived from earthy pig­ments and blues, cropped trousers, waist­coats and other coor­di­nat­ing pieces came together with an atten­tion to pat­terned shapes. As shoul­ders were halved and ankles elas­ti­cized, clean clas­si­cism was trans­formed with a con­tem­po­rary nod to quirk. /​ Styling by Julie Rago­lia.

The lat­est col­lec­tion from PetrouMan takes a trip around the world, pick­ing up attrib­utes from indige­nous cul­tures for a sea­son that fea­tures sports­wear pep­pered with the col­or­ful fea­tures that sets the label apart. Com­ple­mented by the clean styling of Julie Rago­lia, designer Nico­las Petrou looked to work­wear for spring’s inspi­ra­tion and effec­tively turns out per­haps his most acces­si­ble col­lec­tion to date. Stay­ing true to the graphic appeal of his work, Petrou embraces madras prints for a look that man­ages to be bold and dar­ing, while toy­ing with cer­tain ele­ments of the preppy aesthetic.

New York Fashion Week | Petrou\Man Fall 2010

Enlist­ing the help of styl­ist Rob­bie Spencer once more, Petrou\Man designer Nico­las Petrou revealed his sec­ond col­lec­tion to date with a pre­sen­ta­tion. Inspired by the idea of nomads and their many trav­els, Petrou turned to suit­ing as the can­vas of his abstract art. Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the jour­ney of his nomad, Petrou weaved together an intri­cate mix of pat­terns and fab­rics for a col­or­ful ven­ture that jux­ta­poses tra­di­tion with the cur­rency of tomorrow.
