
Smart Quirks–Petrou\Man takes a walk on the wild side for the spring 2012 season, mixing designer Nicolas Petrou’s penchant for prints with a sharp uniform. Derived from earthy pigments and blues, cropped trousers, waistcoats and other coordinating pieces came together with an attention to patterned shapes. The latest collection from PetrouMan takes a trip around the world, picking up attributes from indigenous cultures for a season that features sportswear peppered with the colorful features that sets the label apart. With less than a couple hours to go until the presentation of Petrou/Man’s spring 2011 collection, we share an exclusive look behind the scenes by photographer Kirt Reynolds. On hand for a fitting with Red model Abiah Hostvedt, Reynolds captures an early glimpse at tonight’s quirky ensembles.

Complemented by the clean styling of Julie Ragolia, designer Nicolas Petrou looked to workwear for spring’s inspiration and effectively turns out perhaps his most accessible collection to date. Staying true to the graphic appeal of his work, Petrou embraces madras prints for a look that manages to be bold and daring, while toying with certain elements of the preppy aesthetic.

Enlisting the help of stylist Robbie Spencer once more, Petrou\Man designer Nicolas Petrou revealed his second collection to date with a presentation. Inspired by the idea of nomads and their many travels, Petrou turned to suiting as the canvas of his abstract art. Representative of the journey of his nomad, Petrou weaved together an intricate mix of patterns and fabrics for a colorful venture that juxtaposes tradition with the currency of tomorrow.
