Enti­tled “Let Me Free”, Plein’s fall col­lec­tion was inspired by Gus Van Sant’s 1985 film, Mala Noche. The film’s set­ting of Port­land echoed a sen­ti­ment of grunge and dodgy char­ac­ters that speaks to the collection’s flan­nels and sim­ple lay­ers that inter­est­ingly enough are quite col­or­ful. Plein joins a list of labels seek­ing to sub­merge them­selves in the grunge aes­thetic and its not a bad idea. Com­pared to the cur­rent trends that are quite neat in makeup, an over­all rebel­lious dishevel would be refreshing.
