A WELL DONE is due to Berlin designing trio, Julia Böge, Simona Gabrieli and Jasmin Moallim. In about three short years, the trio’s black doting label, QED has garnered international attention and success. For the latest collection, Böge, Gabrieli, and Moallim presented during London Fashion Week as part of On|Off Presents. On|Off is a special showcase for an international audience of press and buyers. Its goal is to “uniquely [bridge] the gap between on and off schedule designers” like QED. Fall 2009 has been a runway season plagued with black, yet QED’s dark showing can still be appreciated. Where others use black as an element of safety, QED uses the color to highlight their close attention to tailoring. Focusing on construction, the cut, shape, texture, and overall proportion is what makes QED a label to watch.
Infusing traditional menswear pieces with their point of view, while paying close attention to tailoring, in one season, QED has taken their label from high-end street to ultra chic. Founded in 2006 by Julia Böge, Simona Gabrieli and Jasmin Moallim, “Quod Erat Demonstrandum, shortened to QED” is based out of Berlin. The three designers met while in school and instantly bonded over their love for the color black, but also appreciated each others differences. “Due to the three personalities working on the collections, QED creates a unique mixture between minimalism and playfulness, exquisitely detailed, subtly extravagant, yet very wearable and high in quality.“
