For their fall col­lec­tion, Japan­ese label Sacai tries to deliver on this season’s con­cept the “New Stan­dard”. Cap­tur­ing the trends that are cur­rent in menswear such as the dynamic shorts and leg­gings pair­ing, the gar­ments are addressed as basic sta­ples, dress­ing them in a vari­ety of solid col­ors. Although the col­lec­tion has its fair share of gray and black, designer Abe Titose’s use of pale col­ors is refresh­ing when com­pared to this season’s over­all bleak color palette. Sacai may not offer a piece we have yet to see, but the pieces they do are suc­cess­ful in ground­ing trends and mak­ing them acces­si­ble, remain­ing cur­rent with­out falling vic­tim to a flighty fash­ion moment.
