Athleticism for the Style Aficionado –Siki Im revisits school days with a new collection that draws its inspiration from the gym. Donning sweatbands and sneakers, the men of Siki Im hit the gymnasium turned runway with a lineup that juxtaposed the fun sporty motif with accessible garments. The parka was turned out in an oversize boxy cut, channeling the victory lap of a champion with room for more delicate pieces like a fantastic long cable-knit sweater, furnished in black. Meanwhile, leggings, sweats and layered pants made the perfect companion to variations on the letterman jacket. Blending suiting with sportswear, the overall results were nothing short of genius. Presenting the best of both worlds, Siki Im’s fall collection tailored to the interests of the creative while resonating the fundamental ideas of menswear.
Silent Thunderbird Prayer–Drawing from Native American imagery, a constant influence for Siki Im, the designer looks to Robert Hamada for a fall video. Shot to the sounds of tribal chanting, Justin Passmore of Red Citizen puts on a brave face, while showcasing Im’s current lineup.

Master Class–Masterfully evolving and refining his vision of men of intellect and wisdom, Siki Im ventures into new territories of sophistication for spring 2012. With cleaner lines and sleeker tailoring fused with the label’s trademark deconstruction and loose silhouette, Im’s scholarly gentlemen is reinvented with new minimal sensibility and modernity. The pairing of a sharply constructed blazer with billowing trousers results in a dichotomy of traditional and contemporary elegance. Exuding an organic and effortless sartorial flair, an ease of craftsmanship is cultivated with restraint and control.

The Siki Experience–Darting behind the scenes at Siki Im’s spring 2012 show, Nikolai de Vera reconnected with several of our favorite faces, ranging from Jeremy Young and James Smith to Clément Chabernaud, as they received the label’s strict makeover, aided by the styling of David Vanderwal.

A Siki Im Exclusive–Siki Im reflects on this past season with a new story featuring Request model Yuri Pleskun. Heading outdoors in a strong wardrobe of varied influences, Yuri is photographed alongside Women Management’s Helouise Guerin for quite the modern editorial lensed by regular collaborator Robert Hamada.

Siki Im follows a path of silence for fall’s collection. Looking to Mother Earth and the inspiring work of Native American pottery artist Maria Martinez, Siki Im embraces grounded pieces. Built from the ground up as garments of protection, easy layers are constructed with minimalist shapes. Rounded off by hats created in collaboration with Heather Huey, Siki Im also adds jewelry Made by Eugene and kilts as well as rugs by Tahnibaa Nataani to their serene lineup. / Photos by Carl Barnett (The Fashionisto)
