Telfar Clemens takes his label in a new direction for the spring season. Less concerned with function and more so focused on sustainability and versatility, Clemens offers a size-less collection entitled “Life Size”. Using only organic and recycled materials, the collection embraces unisex possibilities with garments that can be taken in for a small or expanded to an extra large with the pull of a drawstring. Hand dyed in earth tones, Clemens’ humble collection takes the idea of rags and transforms it into a laid-back range that is fashion-forward. Loosely fitted sarongs, shorts and wraparound pants are met with equally chic tanks, tops and open jackets. With his latest range, Clemens does more than create a collection, he fashions a simple easygoing lifestyle.

This must be the year of the diffusion line. Following closely on the news of simple, retail-friendly lines by Alexander Wang and Robert Geller, designer Telfar Clemens announces his new unisex line UN.DER T. Describing the line as simple, yet complex, Clemens has coined the term simplex. Responding to a growing number of requests for older styles, UN.DER T will see the reissue of popular garments from Clemens’ mainline. UN.DER T launches for the spring 2010 season at New York City boutique EVA located in Noho at 355 Bowery between 3rd and 4th Street.

Dirty-faced models draw viewers into the mysterious world of Telfar Clemens. With the line between the genders blurred, Clemens’ collection is a healthy dose of the unexpected. Expanding basics into new innovative pieces, Clemens utilizes fine details to achieve a futuristic look. Excess zippers, curved hemlines, and cropped proportions dress a collection of form fitting pieces. Created with the intention to be worn by everyone, no silhouette is untouchable by Clemens. Strong turtle necks are contrasted by wrap skirts and a standout number appears to be a cross between dated overalls and a halter top. Bold and venturous, Telfar is definitely not for the faint of heart, but for those willing to take risks.
After being offline for weeks, the Oak NYC shop is back online and some nice pieces have been added to the site. Check out their new arrivals here.
