Suited to Cool–Dusty blue and charcoal gray join a choice selection in black for Todd Lynn’s spring 2012 collection. Adding his signature rock edge to a suiting hybrid, color-coordinated ensembles make the rounds with lengthened shorts in toll. Layered lightly with a great knack for elongated proportions, Todd Lynn’s man finds a soft stride with an asymmetrical draped knit for the finishing number.

Racking up editorials left and right, Micky Ayoub and Abiah Hostvedt join IMG’s Danielle Z for a Todd Lynn feature in the current issue of The Last magazine. Photographed by Amy Troost with styling by Alastair McKimm, the trio temporarily enlist in Lynn’s modern army of androgynous ease and finesse. / View Lynn’s fall collection here.

No expense is spared when it comes to the latest collection of Todd Lynn. Adding a hard edge to this spring’s romantic look and continuing his use of fur from this past fall, Lynn’s man evolves into a chic warrior. Whereas monochromatic looks benefit from multiple finishes, a focus on outerwear turns out shoulders strong on structure. Like an armor to protect an achilles heel, Lynn shifts all attention to the shoulders with arresting shapes crafted from leather and fur. Ultimately, Todd Lynn crafts a subversive collection of luxe proportions that separates him from his peers.

If anything, this year proved that London is a hotbed of emerging talent. From the much buzzed debut of Asger Juel Larsen to J.W. Anderson’s enchanting collections or stories for a better term, London’s designers are busy at work carving out a niche for themselves as a new generation of visionaries. Not afraid to break outside the mold and push forward with a well-defined concept, designers like James Long toyed with the idea of his man as a soldier while Lina Österman brought a certain gentle quality to her brooding character. Meanwhile, much like his contemporaries, Todd Lynn turned tradition on its side, moving suiting towards a more romantic approach. Altogether, these designers help earn London a more focused eye going into 2010 in anticipation of only greater things to come.

Designer Todd Lynn goes for a more reserved look this season, fashioning his woman after Algerian Queen Tin-Hinan. What does this mean for men? Drawn to a monochromatic color palette of black and gray, Lynn plays with modern suiting, toning it down with a hint of foreign exoticism. Sharp jackets are met by soft wispy draping and Lynn’s slim silhouette is renewed for another season. (WWD)

Perhaps designers showing in London posses information that the rest of the world lacks. Fur has not been in short supply since London Fashion Week kicked off. Best representing his rock and roll background dressing clients like Mick Jagger and Marilyn Manson, designer Todd Lynn’s audacious fur pieces stole the show. In Lynn’s world, this is no surprise. His collections always embody “the easy, dark and beautiful rock and roll cool that his music industry heavy hitters have long appreciated.” Lynn’s fall collection might lack color, but it more than makes up for in regal luxury. Lynn’s collection is rich with not only fur, but leather and velvet as well. Adopt Todd Lynn’s look this upcoming fall and recession will be a word of the past, BUT poverty might not be. Guess that is just a risk you are going to have to take. Pictures from Catwalking |
