Morn­ing Ban­ter–d1 model Nico­las Baisin rises into the day­light in a tran­quil photo shoot for Vin­cent Schoepfer spring/​summer 2012. Pho­tog­ra­pher Matthieu Dor­tomb cap­tures the disheveled Nico­las in a light, proper wardrobe that fea­tures a sports­wear motif jux­ta­posed with relaxed pieces of a con­tem­po­rary nature, includ­ing jack­ets, shirts and hooded sweat­shirts. The col­lec­tion also fac­tors in a series of leather train­ers in stim­u­lat­ing hues to com­plete a posh, ath­letic style.

From clever stitch­ing and cords to an infec­tious doll print, Schoepfer blends whimsy and prac­ti­cal­ity together once more for a col­lec­tion that charms. There is no deny­ing that Schoepfer’s take on the every­day suit deliv­ers in style, but what really stands out in the col­lec­tion is a stun­ning trench coat that looks as if it were skill­fully trans­formed from a throw­away trash bag into a keep­sake. It’s been nearly a year since news of the last col­lec­tion and the line is as charm­ing as ever. Tak­ing the basics of menswear and inter­ject­ing it with humor and adding a mod­ern touch in cut, Schoepfer deliv­ers a per­son­able label with spunk. Approach­ing the upcom­ing sea­son with vigor, the lat­est col­lec­tion sees just the right amount of play­ful­ness and grounded design. The impor­tance of for­mal attire is played down with con­cealed but­tons and a new take on the bow-​​tie. Mean­while, wisely imple­mented leather offers the selec­tion of knits and shirt­ing options a rede­fined edge. Over­all, the col­lec­tion reminds us that no mat­ter what the occa­sion, there is always room for per­son­al­ity – no mat­ter how small or large.
