Swedish label Whyszeck maintains its casual roots for the fall 2010 season with a relaxed collection, fit for the everyman. Toughing it out in layers of black, gray and brown, it is not difficult to imagine the Whyszeck man living a simple life of hunting, fishing and like minded activities. Whether dressed in a camouflage field jacket and fatigues or sporting a peacoat, Whyszeck’s rugged man captures the charm of masculinity at its core, providing the season’s essentials for the no-fuss personality.

Whyszeck’s fall 2009 collection took the less traveled intellectual approach to arrive at its particular dedication to form and color. Continuing along this path, the spring collection widens its scope to reflect on Whyszeck’s history with a healthy serving of nostalgia. Crafted under the title, “The white noise disturbing you on the sea of nostalgia”, the collection takes into account the world’s economic plight, but leaves room to celebrate Whyszeck’s tenth collection, which fittingly takes place with the spring 2010 season. Firmly rooted around the label’s idea of “Progressive casualism”, the upcoming collection takes a gander at reinterpreting iconic worker classics. Exercising restraint with the utmost subtlety, the range takes on everything from the carpenter shirt to the motorcycle jacket…

Versatility, style and practicality are three of the qualities that contribute to the allure of Whyszeck’s fall collection. The collection allows room to breathe and grow a wardrobe with relaxed trousers, casual knits, clean shirts, utilitarian outerwear, and smart chic suiting separates. Although minimal in nature, the collection includes the high degree of taste and option necessary to transition from day to night — from one occasion to the next. Overall, Whyszeck’s fall collection is a clever selection of integrable pieces that fall in line with contemporary fashion, while still exhibiting a sense of timelessness.

The latest collection from Whyszeck looks towards the past for a creative direction. Taking inspiration from the artistic differences between Theo van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian, the concept of Neo-Plasticism creates the framework for the fall collection. Neo-Plasticism was rooted in the appeal of abstraction and saw a return to the importance of form and color. This meant the strict use of horizontals and verticals alongside black and white. Theo van Doesburg later redefined Neo-Plasticism as Elemantarism to incorporate the use of diagonals, “colorized with dissonant colors.” Whyszeck engages these theories in a modern context through the use of “Neo-plastic” knit patterns, attention to line detail, and respect to color. Motivated by van Doesburg’s “Counter-Composition XIII”, the collection incorporates variants of gray, black, and earth flushed tones for its color palette. The aforementioned elements combine to create a minimal, but smart collection suited for all aspects of the modern man’s life…

Stripes are plentiful, shirt collars are small, buttons play hide and seek, and the trousers are not the only cropped item. This season, Swedish label Whyszeck keeps it simply classic with a splash of nautical flair. The youthful collection is serious when it needs to be, showing smart clean cropped blazers, while at other times, embracing spontaneity with delightful pieces like the red collarless leather jacket.
Inspired by architecture, music, and its subculture, Whyszeck is an interesting label based out of Stockholm. It originally started as a band and “reanimated into a fashion label.” Whyszek’s fall collection consists of nice, timeless clean cuts and a palette of various grays.
