“Light” — Odeur Spring 2010

Lighter and more devel­oped than pre­vi­ous col­lec­tions, the lat­est from Swedish label Odeur is appro­pri­ately titled “Light”. Inspired by sun faded lines and translu­cent gos­samer sur­faces, the ethe­real col­lec­tion embraces uncon­ven­tional sil­hou­ettes, while still exer­cis­ing restraint. Push­ing the bound­aries of fash­ion, the cre­ations of design­ers Pet­ter Holl­ström and Gor­jan Lauseger were lit­er­ally the light at the end of a dark run­way. Adding vol­ume, drap­ing and dra­matic shapes to basics, Holl­ström and Lauseger craft an off­beat range of blacks, whites and serene blues. Often hooded and bil­low­ing, the collection’s tops evoked the image of a mod­ern day nomad and a sense of secu­rity. On the other hand, pants and shorts adhered to a relaxed sil­hou­ette that nicely off­set the collection’s gen­er­ally over­size pro­por­tions. At large, Odeur’s spring offer­ings inter­ject the sea­son and wardrobes alike with a mod­ern spon­tane­ity that is much needed.
