Model of the Month | Will by Claudia Goetzelmann

Tak­ing a look through Will Lewis’ port­fo­lio, we come to a shoot pho­tographed by Clau­dia Goet­zel­mann in 2005. Will had just returned to San Fran­cisco after walk­ing a cou­ple shows in Europe and was not sure about how he wanted to pro­ceed with mod­el­ing. Clau­dia and Lewis had met that same year and decided to spend a day together shoot­ing. “Dis­cussing life in large and small” in between takes, the images eas­ily became what Clau­dia refers to as “stud­ies of that per­son. It’s almost an inti­mate experience…I love when that happens…When I can con­nect with my sub­ject and we both open up and give our­selves to cre­ate fab images…it’s when the magic hap­pens.” That very day trans­lated into pho­tos that mod­el­ing agents liked enough to put in Will’s book. Now almost five years later, Will and Clau­dia met up in the same Can­dle­stick Park to do another shoot that is going to be pub­lished in the next issue of Chaos Mag, out Jan­u­ary. Will added that “it’s really nice to see the pro­gres­sion like that, almost sci­en­tif­i­cally tested using the same method five years and the results are clearly even bet­ter the sec­ond time! It’s heart­en­ing, for sure.”
