Paolo Anchisi was born in Italy, but has spent plenty of time in the United States, currently residing in North Carolina. Going from working on a farm to being signed with Ford, Paolo began modeling last July and in a couple of months, he had racked up plenty of high profile campaign work for the current spring season. Appearing in ads for Yves Saint Laurent, DKNY Jeans, Versace, United Colors of Bennetton and UNIQLO, Paolo quickly became an overnight sensation, but he takes it all in stride. After modeling, Paolo would like to explore other career options in fashion, but if that does not pan out, there is always farm work. Until then, Paolo follows in the footsteps of his mother Lynn Koester, who was also a successful model through the 80’s and 90’s.

Hot in demand is new Major model River Viiperi. From his editorial debut in Hero magazine to appearances in the likes of Citizen K and VMAN photographed by Hedi Slimane, River has proven to have that special it factor. His first year into modeling, River has walked exclusively for Calvin Klein, racked up plenty of covers from Surface to Winq and become a regular in the world of editorials. Born in Ibiza, but a current resident of Spain, where he has lived for the past ten years, River has experienced the schedule upset of being a model. Reflecting on his new life as a model, River shared, “I love this world, but it’s hard sometimes because I have to travel a lot and I miss my family and friends. But otherwise, it’s a very nice opportunity. You meet a lot of great people, you also meet people that are not so great but well…nothing is perfect.” His adventures may vary, but there is one thing for sure, River is a model with quite the future ahead of him.

As requested – a closer look at Francisco’s model of the month project. Special thanks to Ford!
At the age of 17, Brazilian model Francisco Lachowski was living in Curitiba and starting his first year of university. Little did he know that a chance entry into Ford Supermodel Brazil would change his life. About two months after winning the competition in November of 2008, he had walked for Gucci and landed a Dior Homme runway exclusive. Also booked for Dior Homme’s campaign that season, the young model made a big splash this past fall, getting to work with Karl Lagerfeld. One of his most memorable experiences by far, he enjoyed being able to work with such a reputable label and noted talent. Quickly becoming a new regular in editorials and runways around the world, his future looks bright. Soon to be based out of New York, Francisco’s current focus includes bookings for editorials and lookbooks, but with campaign season kicking into gear, he has high hopes for major projects on the horizon.

Don’t let Charlie Westerberg’s boyish looks fool you. The Swedish model is quite the character. Starting his modeling career at the age of fifteen, it has been a slow but steady rise for Charlie. From his 2008 Prada exclusive and initial shoot with Hedi Slimane to the recent demand of work from the likes of Barneys, Cheap Monday and Topman, Charlie has kept quite busy. Discussing the perks of modeling, Charlie was quick to reply with a short, but sweet list that includes “Danish girls, friends you meet, earning money that you then spend on stupid shit [and] walking around Miami in the middle of the night.” However, as with everything, the quick paced life of a model has its downsides. Charlie does not like flying and when it comes to people in the industry who take themselves too seriously, all Charlie has in mind is “blah blaaaahhaaaa blllaaa…” Although “modeling has taken him places he never could have imagined, as a person he explains, it does wear you out– “Always getting judged and all that”, but with humor, Charlie adds that he will “just take what [he] can and then say goodbye with style…like blow [himself] up at the end of the catwalk at [his] last show or something.” Hopefully, it never reaches that point, but in the meanwhile, Charlie is keeping himself grounded with school – attending castings when time allows.

This month, we turn our usual feature on its side for a special look at four models who are having quite the breakout year. While Charlie Westerberg (DNA) is not new to modeling, the last year has provided him with the increased exposure of several projects such as Barney’s seasonal look, campaign work for Topman, prominent runway castings and a significant amount of editorial work. Meanwhile, fresh face River Viiperi (Major) has hit the season running with a Calvin Klein exclusive and a quickly expanding portfolio. On the other hand, Brazilian model Francisco Lachowski (Ford) has beat the Dior Homme curse and since appearing in their campaign gone on to the successful start of a career – quickly becoming a regular in print and on the runway. Finally, new talent Paolo Anchisi (Ford) has quickly shot to a prominent position in the industry after a huge campaign season that saw the model working for Yves Saint Laurent, Versace and DKNY just to name a few. Boasting four models you should know on a first name basis, this month will cover an introduction to Charlie, Francisco, Paolo and River as well as a hint of what the future has in store.
