Model to Watch | Luis Borges Exclusive

Appear­ing in fall 2010 cam­paigns for United Col­ors of Benet­ton, Paul Smith, Tommy Hil­figer and Etro, DNA model Luis Borges expe­ri­ences his break­out sea­son in a sen­sa­tional fash­ion. Twenty-​​two years-​​old and from Por­tu­gal, Luis made a quiet debut on the run­way almost two years ago before get­ting a phone call, where in a humor­ous fash­ion, Luis Smith had been con­firmed for Paul Smith. Surely a mis­take that would not be made today, Luis is not going any­where any­time soon with cam­paigns already lined up for next year. One of the friend­liest tal­ents around, we look for­ward to what the near future holds for this new star.

Fol­low­ing our offi­cial intro­duc­tion to VNY model Corey Bap­tiste, we fol­low up with an inter­view before his fall cam­paign cast­ings are revealed.

Do you recall your first shoot?

Corey Bap­tiste: Def­i­nitely! It was crazy, fun, new, and excit­ing all at once. It was so new and I had so much to learn but Sean Kilkenny was great to work with and kept me laugh­ing the whole time. I remem­ber tak­ing one shot in par­tic­u­lar, Sean kept say­ing “give me face” and in my head, I was like “huh”, but I quickly learned that it was just his way of say­ing more inten­sity in the eyes, so I gave him what he wanted and the shot ended up being on the front of my com­p­card when I signed with VNY. It was def­i­nitely a fun shoot.

How would your friends describe you?

Corey Bap­tiste: My friends would describe me as goofy, silly, funny, and def­i­nitely corny. Most would say that I’m the life of the party or maybe even the class clown. I like to crack jokes, that’s what I do. I just love to make peo­ple laugh.

Model to Watch | Corey Baptiste by Sean Kilkenny

Before we turn our focus to the shows, we hone in on one more model to watch–Corey Bap­tiste. Signed to VNY, in Europe for the shows and hop­ing to make a splash, Corey has quite the upcom­ing cam­paign sea­son to jet­ti­son him through a cast­ing or two. A local to the Bronx and scouted by his soon to be man­ager Bran­don Wil­son, while apply­ing for a job at Aber­crom­bie & Fitch, Corey signed with VNY this past Jan­u­ary and soon after hit the ground run­ning. Con­nect­ing with local pho­tog­ra­pher Sean Kilkenny to improve his craft, while also shoot­ing for pub­li­ca­tions such as John Tan’s Visual Tales, Corey worked him­self up to the cov­eted cam­paign. Star­ring along­side Sean O’Pry in one and round­ing out a play­ful ensem­ble for another, you’ll just have to wait to see the final prod­ucts in the near future. Until then, watch for Corey on the cat­walk and stay tuned for our inter­view with the up and comer.

Model to Watch | Oskar Tranum Exclusive

Unique model Oskar Tranum has had quite the year. Com­plet­ing high school and div­ing head­first into mod­el­ing full-​​time, Oskar made a splash dur­ing this past January’s fash­ion week and has since made edi­to­r­ial appear­ances in mag­a­zines, rang­ing from Vogue Rus­sia and 10 Men to Cit­i­zen K. At the age of nine­teen, the world is open­ing up to the Dan­ish youth and meet­ing him with a friendly embrace. From Den­mark and Paris to Milan, Oskar Tranum is one of this year’s bright­est faces on the rise.

Model to Watch | Micky Ayoub Exclusive

Nine­teen year-​​old Mikhael Ayoub, also known as Micky is the lat­est Request model to stand out from the pack. Only mod­el­ing for the last four months, he has quickly appeared in a num­ber of mag­a­zines, rang­ing from Inter­view to cov­eted British mag­a­zine 10 Men. How­ever, Micky’s quick rise comes as no sur­prise, as Request has a knack for sign­ing those rare gems. A Brazil­ian trans­plant, Micky is mak­ing a new life for him­self in the Big Apple and was gra­cious enough to share his expe­ri­ence over the last cou­ple months with us.
