Appearing in fall 2010 campaigns for United Colors of Benetton, Paul Smith, Tommy Hilfiger and Etro, DNA model Luis Borges experiences his breakout season in a sensational fashion. Twenty-two years-old and from Portugal, Luis made a quiet debut on the runway almost two years ago before getting a phone call, where in a humorous fashion, Luis Smith had been confirmed for Paul Smith. Surely a mistake that would not be made today, Luis is not going anywhere anytime soon with campaigns already lined up for next year. One of the friendliest talents around, we look forward to what the near future holds for this new star.

Following our official introduction to VNY model Corey Baptiste, we follow up with an interview before his fall campaign castings are revealed.
Do you recall your first shoot?
Corey Baptiste: Definitely! It was crazy, fun, new, and exciting all at once. It was so new and I had so much to learn but Sean Kilkenny was great to work with and kept me laughing the whole time. I remember taking one shot in particular, Sean kept saying “give me face” and in my head, I was like “huh”, but I quickly learned that it was just his way of saying more intensity in the eyes, so I gave him what he wanted and the shot ended up being on the front of my compcard when I signed with VNY. It was definitely a fun shoot.
How would your friends describe you?
Corey Baptiste: My friends would describe me as goofy, silly, funny, and definitely corny. Most would say that I’m the life of the party or maybe even the class clown. I like to crack jokes, that’s what I do. I just love to make people laugh.

Before we turn our focus to the shows, we hone in on one more model to watch–Corey Baptiste. Signed to VNY, in Europe for the shows and hoping to make a splash, Corey has quite the upcoming campaign season to jettison him through a casting or two. A local to the Bronx and scouted by his soon to be manager Brandon Wilson, while applying for a job at Abercrombie & Fitch, Corey signed with VNY this past January and soon after hit the ground running. Connecting with local photographer Sean Kilkenny to improve his craft, while also shooting for publications such as John Tan’s Visual Tales, Corey worked himself up to the coveted campaign. Starring alongside Sean O’Pry in one and rounding out a playful ensemble for another, you’ll just have to wait to see the final products in the near future. Until then, watch for Corey on the catwalk and stay tuned for our interview with the up and comer.
