John Galliano Spring 2012 | Paris Fashion Week

The Calm After The Storm–Qui­etly tak­ing the reigns of John Galliano’s name­sake label after the designer’s abrupt fall from grace ear­lier this year, Billy Gayt­ten kept the momen­tum going with a new col­lec­tion that had plenty a high moment. Still employ­ing the­atrics but tun­ing more into the spirit of the gar­ments, John Galliano’s men took the run­way, tak­ing on every­thing from the dap­per nerd to the bel­lâtre. Dish­ing out a well-​​balanced col­lec­tion of the flam­boy­ant and the stead­fast, relaxed suit­ing rep­re­sented the season’s core, while sep­a­rates offered a moment for per­son­al­ity, tak­ing inspi­ra­tion from the Eng­lish set­tlers and the indige­nous tribes of the new world. Whether it was a dreamy pair of printed silk trousers or a crisp white suit and foulard, Gayt­ten served up a season’s worth of par­tic­u­lar interest.

D&G Spring 2012 | Milan Fashion Week

Ciao Bello–D&G gives their sec­ondary line a grand send off with a regal col­lec­tion of silk. Blend­ing the lux­u­ri­ous fab­ric with their sig­na­ture love for denim and youth­ful attire, printed silk found an affec­tion for all sorts of wardrobe sta­ples. Paired with suede moc­casins in a vari­ety of col­ors, silk was pan­eled with denim and denim with cot­ton for a won­der­ful show­ing from the pop­u­lar label. Tak­ing care of relaxed sil­hou­ettes with flair, jack­ets felt as effort­less and casual as ripped denim. From the loosely but­ton shirt and linen shorts to easy cham­bray, Dolce & Gab­bana out­did them­selves for quite the grand finale.

Man About Italy–The Ice­berg gen­tle­man never strays far away from the sar­to­r­ial ele­gance of sports­wear and this sea­son proved to be no dif­fer­ent. Set­ting out to embrace a youth­ful and mas­cu­line sen­si­bil­ity, designer Paolo Gerani looks to an effort­less approach to mod­ern Ital­ian dress­ing. The col­lec­tion was a show­cas­ing of wardrobe sta­ples at its finest with casual knits, relaxed suit­ing and but­tery leather jack­ets in muted tones of dust grey and deep navy with hints of golden yel­low and poppy red.
