Today’s Prep–J.Crew head designer Frank Muytjens looked to the paintings of Fairfield Porter and Rauschenberg as the inspiration of his latest collection for the label. Mixing various hues of the same color for interesting ensembles, the new range blended Porter’s fresh colors with the tactual knack of Rauschenberg. From militaristic pieces, updated from the archives or functional classics such as the two-button suit, J.Crew enjoyed spring efforts, complete with reversed prints, youthful cuts and a new-age timelessness.

Heed the Silhouette–Lacoste turned out a surprisingly fashion-forward collection with new creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista at the helm. It may have only been ten looks, but bold colors and strong silhouettes told a solid story for the spring 2012 season. Tailored shorts presented an active lease on Baptista’s outing, while outerwear gave the collection a beautiful structure for undeniable standout garments.

Fashion Harvesting–With a healthy green lawn perfectly groomed, the countryside barnyard party was set for Junya Watanabe’s spring 2012 collection. The literal interpretation of farmer uniforms produced desirable and uncomplicated pieces in the likes of overalls in denim and plaid, jeans with patchwork as well as rubber applications worn with durable rubber boots. Meanwhile classic utilitarian jackets and fitted blazers came together for a casual outing complemented by quirky detailing accompanied by charming prints. Alluding the expected sense of luxury, Junya Watanabe continues to stand apart from the fashion crowd with fetishistic seasonal themes.
