Kenzo cre­ative direc­tor Anto­nio Mar­ras looks to detec­tive sto­ries for the inspi­ra­tion of fall’s smart col­lec­tion. Fus­ing both for­mal and casual styles, the Kenzo man is put together with a lit­tle fun and mys­tery. From the high­brow detec­tive and mis­chie­vous vil­lain to the com­mon civil­ian, Mar­ras’ col­lec­tion comes together with a quaint British sen­si­bil­ity. Bring­ing the scholar out to play, printed knits join the collection’s con­sis­tent core of jack­ets that pro­vide struc­ture as well as a relaxed out­ing. Turn­ing to fine leather, boots add a rebel­lious edge, while kilts add an old touch made new. The lat­est col­lec­tion from Louis Vuit­ton finds its inspi­ra­tion in an unlikely source, more pre­cisely – Amish. Sub­scrib­ing to a bleak state of affairs, the lat­est out­ing from Louis Vuit­ton saw a black­out where suit­ing was the main attrac­tion. Play­ing with tech­ni­cal fab­rics and a jar­ring use of vibrant orange, the lineup con­sisted of the French house play­ing its hand at tai­lor­ing while uti­liz­ing mod­ern lines and shapes for a sophis­ti­cated feat.

Z Zegna Fall 2011 | Milan Fashion Week

A vision in pre­dom­i­nantly black and gray, the Z Zegna man hit the cat­walk tak­ing on tra­di­tional sep­a­rates in a refresh­ing young cut. Designed with room to breathe, the indi­vid­ual pieces hit the nail on the head with a qual­ity that was both casual and chic. Tak­ing the for­mal aspect of essen­tials like the dou­ble breasted coat and mak­ing it acces­si­ble with a boxy shape and a fun use of prints, Z Zegna exe­cuted sev­eral other pieces in a sim­i­lar fash­ion. From an over­size mac coat and armor-​​like out­er­wear fin­ishes to shrunken knits, Z Zegna showed a play­ful but skilled hand with the utmost sophistication.
